TitoMB345
Oh how quickly this gamethread went from fun to sad and depressing.
fathom
Riske coming in? Interesting....I'd like to see the guy who can get a K personally here.
whitesoxfan101
And all 184 fans in attendance boo Ozzie. I'd put the odds at 1,413 to 1 that Riske gets out of this without us 3 outs from a loss.
Milkman delivers
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 09:34 PM) That's just pathetic. Dye continues to jug out there, and our outfield defense kills us again. Like I said, Dye is only slightly above average at best as an RF.
champ
QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) Kabooom! What looked like a solidly played night, full of fundamentals, has now turned into a nightmare that will be terrible for the team psyche. Come on, Matty. Get out of this with the tie. Oh, I didn't know that they fishing lost. GMAFB...that's called uttering bullspiff. I came here hoping I could get a little more intelligent baseball talk than WSI, and it's even WORSE over here. I think people are being way too kind by saying he's anything above average, but that's just me.
Felix
Very good call by Ozzie not putting in Jenks. He's not a 4 out or more pitcher.
greg775
I don't know who to blame and I don't care. Thanks Thornton for a dandy save. Thanks Oz for not leaving in Mac Dougal like you did Brandon last night. Thanks for taking the Royals lightly and blowing opportunities and losing a game we needed to win. southsideirish71
It was a walk on a pitch that should of been a strikeout. 1 single up the middle, a flair to left. And a ball that someone couldnt of thrown better. Lets not get crazy on how this is the end of the world. Mark pitched great. If he can pitch like this we are headed in the right direction. Gregory Pratt
This is all because of the remarkable civility we displayed tonight. Bastards, all of you.
whitesoxmanager
it all started with the walk again....OZ please tell the pen...."you walk em with a 2 run lead and your done!"
fathom
I don't understand bringing in Riske now. If you're going to leave Thornton in to face the dead fastball hitter, might as well let him try to get a K.
Dick Allen
The Sox need a K here. Thornton has a much better chance at that than Riske. Will Ozzie play the infield in?

MacDougal isn't a two inning pitcher. This is an inning where we put a hitter who's on fire in a situation to beat us, and he did.
iguchi=dank
1 in 10 shot they don't score with riske, but i really think its the right move

Guest JimH
Or we could make a series of good pitches in a tough situations. As someone said, Teahen just fouled off the good pitches until he got a cookie. They did not go up and under his hands with the good fastball, which is his weak spot. Riske throws the DP ball, we have a chance here.

whitesoxfan101
Wow, 1st pitch and rack 'em up, Brown does us a HUGE favor and that's why they are the Royals. Let's get a run or two, get in Jenks, and get to the hotel.
