The Critic
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) Somebody also needs to bring Aerosmith some drugs and booze while they are at it also. Yeah, and while they're at it, get Metallica b****spifff***ing drunk and shove a f***ingb****spiffpile of coke up Dave Mustaine's nose too. Texsox
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) Find me one person on the new SNL that has a glimmer of the talent that Bill Murray has. Or John Belushi...or Chevy Chase in his prime...or Gilda Radner. Will Ferrell is the best that show has turned out since Eddie Murphy, and no matter how much I might enjoy Ferrell, even he is nothing compared to those guys in their prime. I will agree with the generational thing to a degree, but with Murray and Belushi especially, there was no generation divide. Heck, I hear younger people speak poorly about Sandler as much as people my age. He yells...a lot...is that humor (sit down Mr. Kinison)? That divide rarely happened with Murray. Hey, but if you like SNL and all it's cast, then what the heck, ignore me. I'm old and forgetting where I put my dentures anyways. They also had the advantage of no ghosts to chase. What is interesting is how much credit we give the on-air talent, I believe the writers were better in the 70s. While the cast is important, without good material that matches their talents, the show sucks. I believe Chase, Belushi, etc couldn't be successful with some of those scripts. hammerhead johnson
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) There is always good reason for rage when talking about modern SNL. That show hasn't been funny since the mid 80's and it just keeps getting worse and worse. Terrible show. That Prospector thing was stupid. Come on, dude. Check the early 90s cast: Phil Hartman, Kevin Nealon, Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, Chris Farley, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, Tim Meadows, David Spade, Adam Sandler etc. Am I forgetting anyone? Every single episode from like 1991 to 1994 was a freaking classic. It ain't even funny. I'd like to find the bootlegs, but people don't offer them up on ebay, amazon, etc. When they finally get around to releasing the complete seasons on DVD, I'm gonna be one happy motherfisherman. The Chase/Murray/Belushi stuff is timeless. The early 90s stuff is timeless (even though you slept through all of it). The current version IS NOT.
