Jordan4life_2007
This is why were 8 1/2 games behind Detroit. How many times have we taken the first two games of a series only to lay an egg in the finale? I'm thinking atleast 8 or 9 times. Detroit usually sweeps a team after winning the first two. Our bullpen has fallen apart after pitching so well for a while. We just can't seem to get the starters and 'pen goin' at the same time. The Ginger Kid
I feel like I've been waiting all season for this team to "click" and I"m sure that I'm not alone. When one aspect shines, some other falters. We've seen signs, flashes of brilliance, and obviously this team is better than most in the league. But it's never felt like all the pieces are in sync and now that questions of "intensity" are being raised and key people are getting dinged up, I'm beginning to wonder if time isn't running out on the Sox getting a full head of steam and doing some damage. It's not like one game is going to turn it around, it's a stretch of games where they play solid D, have quality at bats and pitch well start to finish. Do that for a few weeks and the swagger's back. After games like this that "mojo" seems even more elusive.

Theres thousands of us that have been waiting for....oh....a little over 4 months for "The best starting rotation on paper" to live up to even a glimmer of what they're capable of, sadly. Flash Tizzle
QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 01:23 AM) Not to be an ass, but do we really need White Sox loser threads? Seems kinda depressing and who wants to talk about a loss? They're created to discuss the game after its conclusion. Is it any different than a "White Sox Winner" thread? Or is it that only acceptable because it doesn't depress you? Can't have it both ways. Either both or none. That's why WSI is what it is -- any discussions relating to positivity are heralded, whereas threads negative in nature (aside from post game threads) are disregarded. Would someone like to explain why else the Javier Vazquez thread was closed when there obviously wasn't a reason besides negative commentary? There weren't exactly personal insults within it. And don't answer, "because how many times can you hear Vazquez is THE SUXORS11111!!!!", because I've seen numerous threads with far less to offer allowed to remain. Actually, it would be more constructive to Soxtalk for an all-encompassing Vazquez thread to exist. Actually, it would be more constructive to Soxtalk for an all-encompassing Vazquez thread to exist. I was wondering why it was closed too. There was a point on SoxTalk where the top 4 threads were all about how bad Vazquez is. I was pleased to see an all encompassing thread about Vazquez and I was looking forward to the discussion that likely would have taken place. Sure it would have been a lot of rehashed garbage, but nonetheless, there are a lot of smart posters around here that would have offered a lot to it. I'm still wondering why there is a question mark at the end of the thread title? Edited August 3, 2006 by BobDylan
Capn12
I'll edit the title for ya there, Bob, so...question mark, blast ye, shall be gone!! As for why the Vasquez thread was closed...well I didn't close it myself, but theres a pretty good chance as far as I can tell, that it was closed, and an inappropriate comment removed. Then simply someone forgot to reopen it after things were removed. I'll tell ya what, for now I'm gonna reopen it, and will post this same info in it also. How we have played against the bottom feeders vs Detroit is exactly why we are 8 1/2 games down. We went down to Tampa and lost 2 out of 3. They just went down to tampa and took 2 out of 3. The tigers are 11-1 against the Royals, we are 8-4. Thats 4 games right there.

Frankensteiner
Maybe next start Garcia will start pitching up to his potential. Or perhaps the one after that. I know it's coming, we're only in August.

The hitting 80s for most of the game, and humming in a 92 mph fastball once in a while is disturbing. Why cant this healthy big pitcher throw hard for an entire game anymore. I know the WSI and thread police have been having a field day about what is and isn't done here, but in general, just because the mods and admins here don't make a dog and pony show about showing off everytime we do something, doesn't mean there isn't a rhyme or reason to what is being done. The very fact that this stuff gets talked about in public and not deleted should be proof enough of our intents here. If we were looking to blow sunshine up everyone's butts, questions like this would be deleted and told to use PMs or emails to address their concerns. And please don't give me the crap about postive threads being "heralded" here. They might get a few happy posts, but right as rain, you will get the people who feel that they have to crap on anything positive that gets said here. I am sick of people thinking just because they will call out people, it makes them somekind of superfan who is better than everyone else who doesn't dwell on the negatives. Plus I always hear about how Sox fans will talk about the negative so it makes them better than Cub fans... Have you listened to Cub fans the last few years? They have been more negative than just about anyone as far as I have heard, I guess that makes them great fans then? What separates good Sox fans from Cub fans is the depth of their converstations and baseball knowledge. If you switched all of the "Guillen"'s to "Baker"'s and Vazquez/Garcia"'s to "Prior/Wood"s and you might think you were at NSBB somedays. Frankensteiner
This next series will be interesting (as will the ones after it). We needed sweeps of the O's and Royals and couldn't do it, we're still playing pretty poorly with fundemental breakdowns each game, and our pitching still looks bad. Not improving this club over the deadline was beyond ridiculous.
