Mock was the 7th best prospect in the DBacks system, as rated by BA, before the season. He's struggled this year a little bit(4.90 ERA, 135 H, 13 HR, 111 K, 48 BB in 125 IP), but he's 23 so he's still probably a decent prospect. Chico was having a very good year in A(2.22 ERA, 62 H, 6 HR, 63 K, 21 BB in 81 IP), was then promoted to AA and produced pretty well there as well(3.75 ERA, 48 H, 5 HR, 49 K, 11 BB in 50.1 IP), and he too is 23, so the Nats got a pretty good return for a pitcher having a bad year.

 

And you guys are trying to tell me Garcia and Vazquez have no value. It's a decreased value, but they have value all the same.

I'd trade Vargas and Petit for Garcia. Might not be enough to get him, but a veteran for one year, next year, with playoff experience when we could hopefully contend would suit me fine.

Sox are apparently willing to deal him if they get an established reliever and young pitching prospect in return. They also seem to be open to dealing Javier Vazquez if absolutely needed. Mets are not interested in moving Duaner Sanchez and Mike Pelfrey for him, but could deal Aaron Heilman. Dodgers interested and the White Sox would want Jonathan Broxton. Garcia, meanwhile, would date to end up in New York.

This was a good deal for us. We had plenty of prospects in the system we needed someone eho could eat some innings and Livan is a workhorse. The innings are starting to take a toll on our bullpen. Chico is the was the person I hated to see us give up but to get something you have to give up something. Mock was 7th coming into the season but he wouldn't be in the top 15 at midseason.

You may not think it's good enough but I'd say most Sox fans especially I would absolutely LOVE such a deal. The Mad Dog's velocity has been slipping so he's not going to last long in the AL but he could more than likely dominate the NL East especially in his first season.

I'd actually do Nolasco and Petit or Vargas if some of Garcias enormous salary could be paid.

 

Just think...much like Garland...another SP the Cubs had and discarded that would do nice things for you guys.

 

This has double effect...it helps take out the logjam on SP we have(not that its a bad thing...but our stud SP prospects gotta get a chance sometime), and we'll get draft picks for Garcia.

The only thing I wouldn't be completely sure of is the draft picks. Garcia makes $10 mill in '07, and for him to decline arbitration, he would probably have to get another offer similar to the one he got from Chicago(3 years, $27 mill). If everything went smooth sailing in Florida, he probably would get that(and I think everything would), but if it doesn't, you guys would be in a bit of trouble as he would probably accept arbitration, and then it becomes good luck trading him.

 

Of course, they could also just cut their losses at that point, which would probably be the best road if Garcia was that bad.
