Negativity? Sox Fans #1

Negativity? White Sox fans? All you have to do is watch the broadcast of White Sox games to know the real reason the Sox are losing, and have a team ERA over 5.50 since the All Star break. Its the umpires.

hahhhhahahah. I was once called "off the wall" for saying the SOX and their robust ERA in the 5's would NOT make the playoffs, hahahahahahahaaha. My paranoia isnt as unfounded as some would lead you to believe. This teams pitching just isnt as good as the others playing currently.

the worst thing is that many sox fans have lost their edge. there is a prevailing attitude that "everything is gravy" because they won the world series. let me state that the white sox winning the world series was one of the greatest things ive experienced in my life. the difference between myself and the "gravy" train is that i expect more. i know that it's very difficult in baseball to repeat. but i also can point out problems that i see. remember early in the season when some of us pointed out that the team had some major problems? we were shouted down with "LOOK AT THEIR RECORD" and "OZZIE WON IT ALL HE'S INFALLABLE"

It's higher expectations. The team's goal and the fans' expectations every year is to WIN THE WORLD SERIES! Everything else is an unsuccesful season.

Anything short of a championship, while not a complete failure, is not a success. Especially this year for the Sox. People can talk all they want about the Tigers playing over their head. We were right there and pissed it away in the last three weeks.

I Never knew insecurity was one of the forms ......

Well, now you do.

The negativity of this year's Sox fan comes from the high expectations as many posters have correctly noted. However the negativity has nothing to do with the Cubs, Cub fans, etc. The negativity is focused inward, on the White Sox team, because they haven't performed up to snuff.

There is still time but they will have to play a lot better. Tied for the wildcard at this point, it's a dead heat. They need to find a way to play better, to do everything better.

Above is all that needs to be said about this argument. :cheers

The season isn't over yet...and a win or loss tonight won't decide our future. After every win, people start planning our postseason rotation. After every loss, people start planning their October vacation.

No, it was precise and to the point. It took into account what a few others said, and it summarized the point perfectly.

naaahhh, he simply waited to see what others would say, then put them into his own "views" much like a Jay Mariotti would. I give credit to the many others who posted earlier, their views.

I think we are in general more negative than we should be. We let losses linger and often tend to overlook our strengths and wins. Of course I don't usually feel this way, but in general we as Sox fans have a negative mentality.

this is the post that best sums SOX fans up.

Jim and I don't always get along, but I can safely say he's the last person who will take what others say and then try to post it as his own opinion.

You couldn't be more full of BS if you tried.

And it doesn't take much trying on your part to show that you are.

This would be correct.

On both counts eh Fathom? :D :bang

there were 17 other posts before he FINALLY chimed in on something, and only then to rip on something someone else said, rather than comment on his views. He never really said anything that wasnt already said in this thread, but maybe im just troubled that you Toasted his post, as if he were the first guy to say what he said. Im simply saying he wasnt. Jake, if anything had something easy to say that probably defines us. My using the cubs was simply a way to compare the two of us (which would show just how different we are from the casual fan) Unfortuneately, the point was lost. Mind you, I wasnt the first one to use that other team in this thread, which again was lost, and was a good point also

I just liked his post because not only did he say that the expectations were high, but he also pointed out that this team was underachieving and yet the season isn't over yet.

The White Sox fanbase is turning more and more into Red Sox nation every single day. Ive never seen so many so called "fans" give up on a team that currently holds a playoff spot. So be it here on soxbandwagontalk. The most crucial week of the season for the Sox, when they need our suport the most... and nodbody can put an ounce of faith in this team. Pathetic. Its like youre going to the games expecting to Boooooo.

There was more energy in the Cell last year with 30,000 than it is full this year..... but go ahead and keep b****ing and whining, because that's what classy fans do. How do you expect our boys to kepp things on the right track if nobody believes in them?? So greedy the majority of this fanbase has become...

We should all be proud to be a White Sox fan, lately most fans sound like the biggest bunch of asses this side of the AL.

Thanks for the contributions to this thread. Someone criticizing me for supporting JimH is one of those things I never expected to happen. The only thing more shocking I've been accused of is when Milkman and I were called blindly-loyal homers for suggesting Jermaine Dye's option should be picked up.

So apparently right before each game Ozzie has all the players log onto Soxtalk to get the fan's perspective. Poor guys. We shouldn't be so harsh on them. It's affecting their play on the field.

Give me a break. Who's booing at the games? As negative as I am on this board I am equally positive and loud at the games when I go.

Screw being excited about the wild card race, the sox are playing crappy baseball and the wild card is a joke.

If my Illini are crappy in basketball next year you gonna tell me that we still have a shot at the Big 10 championship cause of the conference tournament?

Several teams won as wild cards so I wouldn't call it a joke. The 1st part about the Sox playing crappy is mostly true.

EDIT: You still have the best sig on this site. :D

hey, I see your point, and Im sure others do, but dont mistake made by many others, and other websites for that matter. Just because your DOWN on the SOX' chances this year, doesnt make you less of a SOX fan. Im going tonite, and guess what I'll be doing? Cheering them on, because yeah, theres a small bit chance the TIGERS will go into complete meltdown, while the SOX pitching wakes up from their yearlong slumber and we take the division. Alot of SOX fans think the chances are slim and none, thats all

Seems to me my views were quite clear. Perhaps it's a reading comprehension problem on your part?

What do you care if I was the first or not?

You were called out because you CONSTANTLY bring up the Cubs and their fans. Other people on this site have gotten called out for that too so don't think you're special.

Either way, my original point still stands. Negativity is happening because of sky high expectations, and unfortunately on a message board, negativity begets negativity. People in general like to vent. Yes it gets too much at times and many of the same points are beaten to death every nite ... which is basically venting. The world is made up of all kinds of different people, and different people deal with difficult situations in all sorts of ways.

Unique enough thought for you Hangar, or did I steal this from Mariotti or someone else? :lolhitting

but dont mistake made by many others, and other websites for that matter.

Wow you almost made it one whole day without a subtle reference to WSI, you are about at Chase Utley territory now, closing in on Dimaggio. :bang
