greg775
I was gonna start a new thread on this then resisted my giddy tendency. That was one heck of a ballgame. f*** the standings for a night and how bad we've been playing, etc., what a great great game. And a great call on the winning hit by Hawk. And great call on Paulie's homer. Man for Paulie to go with the pitch and deposit it in the rc seats ... awesome hit. Not a bad gutting it out performance by Freddie either. On a given night we play some mean baseball. Wish I was there; jealous of you who were! GO SOX.
Wanne
I honestly think this game is gonna be a springboard for this team given the playoff atmosphere and all and how absolutley HUGE it was to come back tonight. I'd be shocked if they didn't go on a tear here.
BFirebird
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) If I were a Yankee fan, I'd have wondered about almost as many moves by Torre tonight as I did about moves by the White Sox. Taking Myers out after not retiring a batter for example, when you've got the 3 weak guys against lefties coming up in the 8th, seemed to me like a mistake, but it worked out for them. Playing the outfield back late in the game like that with a RISP. There was something else but it's slipping my mind now. My buddy and I thought the same thing...no reason to take Myers out in that situation. The book has to be out that the Sox top 3 struggle against lefties. shoota
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) Garcia for his last 3-4 starts now hasnt been great but has been good enough to keep us in games... and with how low my expectations are for him this season its all I ask for. I'm starting to feel the same way. I'm still a bit disappointed he gave up the lead though.

witesoxfan
Paulie was just awesome tonight. He did a great job of hitting the ball where it was pitched.
SoxAce
My god. Damon's throw was absolutely horrible. My god.. The throw actually hit the infield dirt before finally bouncing 4 times to the catcher. Look at how he set's up to throw it.. BTW, I love the title they have of Dye's GW hit. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...ex.jsp?c_id=cws
stretchstretch
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 11:56 PM) Johnny Damon would have to be playing 2 steps behind the the bag at second to have any chance with that noodle arm. Damon is atop the list of most pathetic OF arms in all of baseball, he's right there with Rondell White and Juan Pierre. ummmmm, might want to add a certain south side left fielder to that list!!!! greg775
Great point about damon's arm. I watched the replay a few times and was amazed. I think the ball barely made it past the mound and funny thing is I don't think he slipped or anything. My gosh, how could his arm be so weak? He does have pretty good range in cf though, rite? That throw had to be the worst throw by an outfielder in the majors this season. By the way i am hurting after chipping a tooth and getting some sort of nerve correction. The Sox eased the pain a bit!!! Anybody on here ever had a root canal before? If so personal message me your horror stories to ease my pain. Hangar18
Chris Russo from WFAN in NY says this was as Huge a Loss for the Yankees as it was a Huge Win for the SOX I agree. The SOX clearly have their backs against the wall and one bullet left in the chamber.......... Were still not out of the woods ...................reeling off 10 in a row right now puts us in the thick of things
LosMediasBlancas
Two random thoughts: After seeing how Pauly looked after strike 1 and strike 2 against Rivera, I thought it was just a question of what pitch he was gonna K on. HUGE, HUGE at bat by PK, he was geeked rounding the bases. I swear Gooch is slower every time I see him run the bases.
LVSoxFan
Props to: Freddy-- you pitched well. Lots of Ks. I like it. Paulie--the original hero J.D.--the ultimate hero Jenks--you held them off, although I was worried if he had to go another inning Crede--as always, you kill from both sides of the plate WTF awards to: Pods: Damon openly disrespected your arm by turning third and you didn't even challenge him Macowiak: my God, man, is there anything you can't bobble in CF? Cotts: these days you're like a guaranteed run when you appear; the guy didn't even have to swing this time Special award to: Cintron: for standing so far up in the batter's box that the Yanks protested, but you got the clinch hit. Love it. All in all, a good win. Can we please just leave Anderson in CF once and for all? WTF is with all the flip-flopping?

I got to the game just after that happened. I went to my seat and my buddy Chris was glaring towards CF.
Milkman delivers
QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:13 AM) Excellent Calvin and Hobbes reference What's that one mean? QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:58 AM) Two random thoughts: After seeing how Pauly looked after strike 1 and strike 2 against Rivera, I thought it was just a question of what pitch he was gonna K on. HUGE, HUGE at bat by PK, he was geeked rounding the bases. I swear Gooch is slower every time I see him run the bases. He showed more intensity after that homer than he did in the WS GS. It possibly spread to the rest of the team. And Iguchi is getting slower it seems, but I had no doubt he was scoring with Damon out in CF. I usually don't show emotion until I literally see the runner cross the plate, but I was celebrating as soon as I saw Dye's single fall in.
