But the fielder fielded it then bobbled it into the stands, how is that any different from a player throwing it into the stands? Did Cintron make a turn at first at all? Wouldn't that be 2 bases in that case?

He never had possession of the ball, which is probably why he didn't get 2 bases.

That's a tad silly though, considering he clearly obstructed the path of the ball into the stands.

Doesn't matter. If the ball goes into the stands on it's own, it's just two bases. If you touch the ball, even if it's going into the stands, you caused it, so it should be three.
