CYGarland
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Yeah, take that series split, worst road team in baseball. And shut up, people who were angry that the Sox lost two in a row at home to the worst road team in baseball. Seriously. I say STFU, if we can take 2 of 3 from Minny and 3 of 4 against Detroit
whitesoxfan101
QUOTE(Reddy @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) it's not inexcusable managing - bobby should be able to go more than one inning and he proved he could against the yankees. why would ozzie hesitate? he is our goddamned closer for god's sake Because he's ALWAYS bad in the 9th after he pitches the 8th. I don't care if you think he should be blue collar and get 4 outs, but HE CAN'T. And even before that, letting Eminem pitch to Teahen instead of Thornton cost us another run. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) There you go. You don't notice it as much, and it shows up almost nowhere in the stats, but Brian Anderson also saved the game right there. 2nd time this year he's done it for Bobby. He also did it against Baltimore keeping a man on 3rd base before Bobby pitched out of it. BA has saved 2 likely BS's for Bobby with his defense. Controlled Chaos
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) Bobby made a big pitch, of course he gets credit. As does BA for keeping that runner at 3rd on the gapper that gave them the first run. But that was still inexcuseable managing, and since we won, I'm an idiot for saying it. You're an idiot cause you said so.

whitesoxfan101
QUOTE(Reddy @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) why not try and let bobby grow into being a better player? the more he gets used to going more than 1 the more able he'll be to do it consistently He's a closer, he's a pitcher that starts an inning, and the stats say it obviously. We've already lost a few games this year doing this, and almost did again today. I don't want to miss the playoffs by a game or two because we tried to let Bobby "grow as a pitcher". And whoever called me an idiot needs to grow up. No need for name calling.

It's not Bobby's fault he was misused by his skipper. But we've already lost a few games and almost did again today because Bobby was brought in in the 8th. If we miss the playoffs by a couple games, you look back at games like that and say "damn, we shoulda won". But Bobby made a big pitch and got out of it, so we got a win today, thank God. That's a good job of twisting his words around. He said it could cost us a playoff spot if Ozzie keeps putting Jenks out there for more than an inning. The stats clearly show that he gets worse when he throws more than 15 pitches or goes more than 1 inning.

He was brought in in the 8th, and he DOES NOT PITCH WELL in that senario. I give him credit for at least making the big pitch and not blowing the game, however he can't be brought in like that. I figured we'd have learned that lesson after the Texas game last month when we brought him in in the middle of the 8th (although that game was tied, but same concept). He would usually only need to throw 15 or more pitches if he is struggling. Edited August 17, 2006 by vandy125
