Texsox
Just received a cingular text message. One last run for Moyer? Phillies sent a couple minor leaguers. http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/news_story/?ID=174782&hubname= Didn't the Phillies try real hard in the off season to get him? Sounds stupid to me. witesoxfan
They tried a couple years ago to sign Moyer. They were also hard after Tom Glavine that year too, and it seemed like he was pretty much set and ready to go to Philly, and the Mets came up with an offer. They then sent Estrada to Atlanta for Millwood. As I recall, the Sox were also very interested in Moyer, but no such luck. As far as the move is concerned...gives them some consistent innings out of the rotation, gives them a guy with some fire in his belly, even if he is old for pitchers, due to the fact that he's never won a Series. With as much love as 40+ Johnson, Clemens, Wells, and Rogers get, Moyer gets none. He's always solid, and probably always will be. Hell, the guy could pitch till he's 50 if he really wanted to. WhiteSoxfan1986
Granted he's moving to the NL, but Moyer will get eaten alive at Citizens bank. His road ERA has been awful the past couple of years. I guess its not a bad gamble for the phillies because they didnt give up much.

Yeah, it ain't going to be pretty when he's pitching at home that's for sure. If the Phillies can get him to pitch most of his starts on the road though, he could be effective enough. Not like they gave up anything for him anyways.
Texsox
I am thinking this was a mercy trade. Let Jamie get in a pennant race.
