BearSox
The 40 man roster is almost among us, but who will get the call and join the White Sox for the final month and 3 days? Who do you guys think Kenny Williams and Ozzie Guillen will call up. Keep in mind, the Charlotte Knights are going to be in AAA playoffs! The players I think will get the call are... RHP, Sean Tracey - Right handed relief help. LHP, Boone Logan - Could be the lefty specialist. C, Chris Stewart - 3rd catcher. OF, Jerry Owens - Speed off the bench, 4th OF'er. RHP, Charlie Heager - Right handed relief help. And possibly Ryan Sweeney.
Baines3
One I would bring up is Sean Tracey we need bullpen help anyhow.
cgaudin
The Sox need some speed at the bases, someone who will steal a base late in the game to push in that crucial run in the late innings. I hate this "power" offense. If no homeruns are hit, we generally don't score. This team is reminiscent of the 2004 team. Lots of similarities. Who in the minors has some speed? RockRaines
My guess would be fields, sweeney, stewart and Tracey.

I think Logan and Owens are locks to be called up.

BearSox
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) I could see them bringing up Hermanson as well. From what I read, the only reason they put him back on the DL was because his rehab stint was over, but they told him he would be back with club in September... how could I forget Hermie? WHarris1
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 08:25 PM) I don't think we'll call up Sweeney. I think Logan and Owens are locks to be called up. I would like to get a look at Sweeney, but I agree with you. Also I think Stewart is a lock as well.
Jordan4life_2007
Boone Logan without a doubt. I want to see how he does a second time around. He's been really, really good since a rocky start down at Charlotte. God knows we could use another quality lefty right now. WhiteSoxfan1986
Call up Logan, Tracey, and Hermanson September 1st (maybe Owens, definately bring him up when Charlotte's season is over). Call up Fields and Sweeney when Charlotte's season is over.

jenksd
QUOTE(SadChiSoxFanOptimist @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) Razor Shines? If we call him up we're going to have to find a way to get Rusty Kuntz first. That duo is unstoppable.
greg775
Man this year is going by fast. Just yesterday it seemed Boone Logan was the talk of spring training. That was fool's gold, though, thinking he'd be a bullpen standout this season. We needed more than Boone.
Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 12:39 AM) Man this year is going by fast. Just yesterday it seemed Boone Logan was the talk of spring training. That was fool's gold, though, thinking he'd be a bullpen standout this season. We needed more than Boone. He's been mowin' 'em down for Charlotte. Check out his numbers against lefties: BAA 1.89, OBP .231, SLG .297, OPS 5.28, K/9 13.50 Who knows, maybe will see something similiar to how Brandon's season went last year. He struggled his first couple times up, went back down to AAA to make some adjustments, then came back up a new pitcher. Boone clearly wasn't ready for the show in April/May. Maybe he's ready now. southsider2k5
With the way Cotts has been going, Boone is a lock to return. Chris Stewart, Sean Tracey, Ryan Sweeney, and Jerry Owens are my other picks to get called up. It will be interesting to see if and when most of these guys make it up as Charlotte still has the playoffs to look forward to.
winninguglyin83
sweeney and Fields won't be here. they're going to venezuela in late september with Charlotte manager Razor Shines for spring training before the season begins. Fields will be working on playing left field and Shines has been told to play Sweeney in centerfield. Draw your own conclusions. Logan WILL be here. Owens will be here to pinch run. Tracey will probably be here, but he won't be of much help except in blowouts. Stewart might be here, but my sense is that Razor Shines, actually likes Molina better than Stewart. Says they are similar as catchers and that Molina will hit better. Phillips won't be here. Edited August 21, 2006 by winninguglyin83
Jordan4life_2007
Booneeeeeeeeee! His line tonight: IP 2.1, H 1, ER 0, R 0, BB 0, SO 3 Edited August 22, 2006 by Jordan4life_2006

As far as Ryan in CF, the organization is still committed to Anderson, as he's been a decent major leaguer since July. I just think they'd like versatility out of him, knowing he can play any OF position. His value just goes up that much more.
My Dixie Normus
IIRC, there was a mild rumor about a camp battle between Owens and BA for cf this year. It never materialized but IIRC, Ozzie was impressed with Owens speed on the base paths during winter ball.
Heads22
Jerry Owens isn't half the fielder BA is. He'll also never hit for power, gets thrown out way too much for that speed, is mediocre in LF and has a noodle arm. We've already got a guy like that. Jordan4life_2007
Sept 1 is here. I want to see Sweeney in LF. I want to see Logan and less Cotts.

I want to see Logan and less Cotts. Well can Sweeney hit better than .230 like our current leadoff guy does. I think he can. He has such an upgrade over noodle arms defense. I think he can. He has such an upgrade over noodle arms defense. There's no way Sweeney could be worse than Pods. If he is, he's a fraud prospect. I'm really excited to see Boone back up, though. I think he's gonna do much better this time around.
