BigSqwert
QUOTE(cgaudin @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 06:56 AM) You got it backwards, with Thome out we got a better chance. He can't hit lefties if his life depended on it. You are correct. I just looked it up. He is 0 for 2546 in his career against lefties. Dick Allen
QUOTE(cgaudin @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 06:56 AM) You got it backwards, with Thome out we got a better chance. He can't hit lefties if his life depended on it. Last time I looked, Radke and Silva are righties and the only lefty the Twins have starting is Santana, and the Sox really don't have anyone that pounds him. FWIW, Thome has 30 hrs in 247 AB against RHP, and is hitting .324 with an OBP over .440. You're right, he just sucks.

I can't believe some fans take Jim Thome for granted. Geez, do you know how stupid that sounds?? And as far as lefties. My god just because a lefty starts doesn't mean we see lefties the whole game. If we do our job we knock the lefty out. If you think we got a better chance with Gload over Thome ... you are mistaken.

If you think we got a better chance with Gload over Thome ... you are mistaken. Keep drinking that Thome kool-aid. He looks like a little leaguer against lefties. Dye can hit both equally well. He should remain in the 3 hole. I'm not saying Thome is a bad hitter, he's just not AS good as Dye hitting left-handed pitchers. That makes him a liability in the 3 spot.
