greg775
Brother Rice beat Mt. Carmel. Holy s***. You guys were right. Rice's coach must be good enough after all. I thought he'd never have a good enough defense to compete.

Buehrle>Wood
Hey greg, in their first playoff game, Brother Rice went up 49-0 in the second quarter! They called off the dogs then but that's really impressive vs decent competition

Brian
Not sure HF will get by Loyola the previous week. That Bolinbgbrook loss raises a red flag. Although Loyola seems to like to choke big games.

Although Loyola seems to like to choke big games. I've coached against HF for years. Scouted them multiple times this year. I'm taking them. I may be wrong but I can't pick against that team. Loyola is really, really good. They don't have that type of team speed though. HF is a monster.

Nice six point win for Bro Rice. Looks like Palatine the 13 seed is stunning the 4 seed so Br Rice I assume gets to host the next game in the quarterfinals. that would be amazing to reach the Final Four. I can't imagine beating Loyola. They seem to be on another plane. Great job, though. Illinois State playoffs are tough. Lot of games compared to a s***ty little state like Kansas. Proud of the Rice kids though. They did a nice job today again. Who knocked St. Laurence out of the playoffs? They had a decent little team as well. greg775
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 10:52 PM) NW Burbs. Right next to Schaumburg. Interesting. Any way Br. Rice could lose to Palatine? I don't like Br. Rice's chances in the semifinals vs. HF or Loyola obvously, but I wonder if they can beat Palatine. Today's game ... I'm glad Elgin's coach screwed up. There were about six minutes left and Br. Rice was up six and Elgin had the ball on the Rice 25 or 30. Coach tried a long field goal to try to cut it to three. Elgin clearly had the momentum at that point with Rice fans a bit nervous as Elgin moved the ball. But they missed the field goal. As a Rice fan I felt relieved Elgin merely tried a meaningless field goal rather than gone for it on fourth down fairly deep in Rice territory. If Elgin takes the one-point lead that late, it's probably Rice playing in the Prep Bowl playoffs rather than the real playoffs. Rice's offense was pretty dismal the fourth quarter, but after that dumb move, Rice did pretty much run out the clock. Finally started moving the ball again. My assessment of Br. Rice: Have some good individual players like Smalling the WR and the QB is a good HS quarterback. They have a good running back as well. I forget his name. They've got some good, gutsy kids on defense. However the defense isn't good enough to win state and the offense is darn good for high school, but like the first Loyola game proved, can be stopped in its tracks by elite teams. That said ... congrats to my alma mater and keep on keepin on!!! Let's win, baby. Edited November 8, 2015 by greg775

Or will Rice be pummeled? If Rice minimizes their mistakes on offense, does not out coach themselves and takes advantage of their talent, they should win and have a date at home with Loyola in the semis. I am not sure if you are noticing but a couple of upsets and you could see Marist and Rice in 8A finals. Decent chance you see Marist and Loyola. Harry Chappas
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 09:33 AM) HF Toughest place to win in Illinois is at Loyola on the flip side Loyola is susceptible on the road. On top of that I think Loyola will wear down HF.
Buehrle>Wood
I think Rice will win easy. Loyola will edge HF in the state champion...er quarters. Marist will win again. Naperville Central will cruise. Loyola takes out Rice in a closer rematch. Marist gets destroyed to end their run. Loyola officially wins state. Brian
I'll take Hf over Loyola cuz Loyola can't win the big game in the playoffs in recent years. It's live on CSN if anyone is curious.
