My Dixie Normus
If you want Mack to play, play him in left. He has hit well against Santana and if he needs to be in the line-up, put him out where PODs has sucked.

Yes, their 3B had a ball go under his glove.

Dick Allen
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 07:06 PM) Greg, ask Hawk what he thinks of Brian. I think him and DJ already think he's one of the 3 best defensive outfielders in all of baseball. Offensively he's hitting over .280 or so since the ASB (IIRC). The guy is a top notch prospect who continues to get better and he is one of the few guys that is actually doing things right. You don't expect a 9 hole hitter to dominate, you expect them to play top notch defense and be able to bunt and ocassionally come through. The past month BA has probably had more big hits than anyone not named Jermaine Dye or Joe Crede. There was a Baseball Prospectus piece a month ago or so, and their numbers had Anderson having the greatest year defensively ever, better than Willie Mays. Mack in CF has cost the Sox at least 2 runs tonight.
fathom
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:09 AM) this must be some sort of mistake, somehow the tying run is at the plate Oh I get it... the forfeit has to be handed in from SECOND BASE that must be why this game is still going on WE GET THE POINT! TitoMB345
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) Yes, their 3B had a ball go under his glove. I assume it would have been an inning-ending double play. Damn TV was taken and I can't see it now.

Frankensteiner
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 07:07 PM) Current Jon Garland + Mark Buehrle every year except 2006 + Jose Contreras from July 05-May 06 + Brandon McCarthy = one of the top starting rotations in baseball. These guys are still not "5.00 ERA" pitchers. You're pretty much cherry picking these guys into a good staff. What about "current" Garland + current Buehrle + current Jose. Or Jon Garland every year except 2005 and a couple of months in 2006 + Jose Contreras from 2004 + ... well, you get my drift.
Balta1701
QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) The problem that KW will face this winter is the question of whether this season was an aberation or a sign of things to come. If he does nothing and things get worse then he'll catch hell. But I don't know what he can do except give BMAC a chance and leave the rest alone. Well, clearly you have to move 1 guy. Garcia or Buehrle are the obvious choices due to contracts, and I think everyone would like to dump Vazquez. I think the question is...what can you get for them? Think about this...if we can get a stud young pitcher for Garcia or Mark through some means, that would still give us 5 good starting pitchers even if we moved 2 guys. The ideal situation of course would be for Vazquez to grow some balls and either turn himself into a decent pitcher for us or to just give him some trading value in the offseason, but I just can't see that happening. Dick Allen
They always mention Sandy's avg. with the Dodgers, they fail to mention he hit .240 for them after April 20 and he doesn't walk at all. He really is worthless.

Milkman delivers
Our pitching absolutely refuses to get on any kind of streak. And I assume there's been a lot of complaining about Ozzie's terrible idea to start Mackowiak AGAIN today against JOHAN SANTANA?
Balta1701
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:12 PM) You're pretty much cherry picking these guys into a good staff. What about "current" Garland + current Buehrle + current Jose. Or Jon Garland every year except 2005 and a couple of months in 2006 + Jose Contreras from 2004 + ... well, you get my drift. You're also cherry picking. Jose Contreras has been a dominant pitcher all his life in Cuba. He just keeps getting into some bad grooves here. When he followed the formula he was using in Cuba, he was dominating people. Jon Garland was a young pitcher who finally seemed to grow up and find a rhythm last year, something that does happen sometimes. Mark Buehrle is just having a terrible season. Yes, I'm cherry picking the positives, but I think on all 3 of them, the positives strongly outweigh the negatives.
WilliamTell
I'm not going to rip on Sandy, that was a solid hit, the best I've seen him hit in a few years, although I haven't see him hit much, haha.
