The Elias Sports Bureau determines if they are a type A or type B or type SUX fa, which fixes compensation. The top x% of all players at a position are type A, the next y% are type B, etc. I don't remember what x and y are, but Pods would certainly have to be a top 50% lf (or of, maybe -- ?) to get any sort of compensation. Which would make everyone wonder if Elias Sports Bureau = Laugh Factory if it happened.

Thanks for enlightening me on the process.

Scott Podsednik is not a free agent after this season, he still has i believe 2 years of Arbitration remaining. Meaning he is under Sox control so they can do 1 of 4 things this offseason:

1.) Trade his ass

2.) Sign him to a new deal avoiding arbitration

3.) Go to arbitration with the bastage

4.) Non-tender him, he becomes a free agent, the Sox get diddly.

Burn, I didn't know he was still arbitration eligibile.

I like querty's idea to sign him for one year with the intentions of trading him. Who knows, perhaps Pods's groin will heal fully over the offseason and return to 2005 first-half form. In that case, I'd keep him.

Technicalities...

Yah, but, you know, I didn't even think about that before answering. In the past, every time someone brought up Garland or Cotts or Crede, I'd ask myself if he will actually be a fa. But with Pods, gone is gone.

I believe we'll get something for Freddy, but I don't know about Pods. Look at how Joey Gathrights and Jason Tyners change hands. And look at the hands involved.

Gathright and Tyner are nobodies, Scott Podsednik was the heart and sole of the 2005 World Series Champion Chicago White Sox offense, the MVP of the 2005 team, an '05 All-Star and the cutest player in the bigs (outside of Jorge Cantu). He has some damn nice value IMO.

I still can't for the life of me understand how this could be the same person who played LF for us last year?? How could one guy collapse in every single aspect of his game, literally every single one???

He was pretty similar to this in the second half of last season as well, in his defense he was pretty damn good in the first half of '05. Post AS Break of last year he put up an OBP of .326 had a K:BB of 34:13, he put up nearly a 50% SB% (15SB, 14CS) which is just deplorable and the cherry on top of that b**** would be his wretched defense and 8 RBI in the 2nd half but hey I guess that's what team MVPs do, just ask Carmon DeFalco.

Scotty certainly sucked tonight but wasn't he pretty good in Game One

of the series?

Since we can't upgrade right now, wouldn't you agree we need a big

September out of him if we hope to make the playoffs?

You've got to admit; the games he's played well (and he's had some of those)

we usually win or score a heck of a lot of runs.

I think we've got to play him almost every day because the alternative right

now sucks.

He only had the one horrible month (August) in which he clearly wasn't 100%. He was damn good in September. .337/.386/.404/.790. I concede he hasnt't been the same as far as stealing bases since last July.
