Texsox
http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory?id=2378615 ALBANY, New York (Reuters) - Some are Catholics who see their church as stuck in the past. Others are believers who happen to be divorced, pregnant before marriage or gay. A few just can't find a priest when they need one. Roman Catholics shunned by the official church are "renting" married priests in times of crisis and celebration. They turn to http://www.rentapriest.com, a Web site with 2,500 Catholic priests in a national database known as "God's Yellow Pages." Queen Prawn
Brian and I had no problems getting married in a Catholic church even though we were living together before getting married and we didn't lie about it either. They (the church) even offer a specific pre-cana for those that are over 30, are living together, previously divorced or have kids from a prior relationship. While some portions of the church are still "stuck" in the past, there is no denying it, more and more parishes are moving to the present, at least in Chicago. Our pastor and other priests even talked about the sex abuse scandal and told us how he went to school with one of the priests on the list. They both talked about how it sickened them, that one time is too many and that they should be dealt with in a court of law. The other priest (non-pastor) even went so far as to say he didn't agree with how the Cardinal handled the recent accusation. Getting off of my soapbox, I have read about people who do this (rent married priests) and to each their own as their is a loophole that once a priest, always a priest so the marriage must be recognized by the church as a "legal" marriage.
