Jenksismyhero
The Sox and Twins win the division/WC and Detroit stays home for the playoffs? I think it could happen pretty easily. Tigers are losing today 4-1 to Seattle and then travel to Minny for 4 games. If the Twins win tonight (likely against the Rays) they'll be sitting 3 games back. By next Monday we could have a new leader/co-leader in the standings. Assuming the Sox take care of business (I know, a big assumption), they could be sitting within 1-2 games of the division lead come next week. These last three weeks are going to be stressful for all three teams...
WilliamTell
There's a chance I think but I wouldn't bet on both the Twins and the White Sox making the playoffs. Right now I'd say the Twins have a great shot at catching the Tigers for the division though.
G&T
The Sox and Twins should already be in front of the Tigers. The Twins have injuries and the Sox don't seem to want it. The numbers say one thing, but reality is saying something different.

NorthSideSox72
If it comes down to it, I'd rather see the Tigers in the playoffs than the Twins. We match up better against the Tigers.

Hopefully they'll be able to build on that. Bob

WinningUgly85
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) If it comes down to it, I'd rather see the Tigers in the playoffs than the Twins. We match up better against the Tigers. people were saying the same thing about the yankees and angels last year in the playoffs. We played terrible against west coast teams and we played better against the yankees. When the playoffs came around we ended up beating the Angels for the AL Division series. Just because we performed better against the Tigers during the season doesn't mean by any chance were going to succeed in the playoffs. We swept the Tigers twice but our most recent series we didn't do to good. I think its up in the air. When the time comes its going to be the team that on the top of their game that will win. Yeah, uhhhhh, neither of those two had near the pitching staff and great fundamental team that the Twins do. K, I lied a little. All 3 are fundamentally sound teams. Minnesota's pitching staff, if healthy enough, still pwns all. Edited September 7, 2006 by witesoxfan

Gonna need a couple more of those 3-game-or-more winning streaks before this is over or the Sox will watch the playoffs. It's hard to even stay "pessimistically hopeful" lately.
