As long as we can win today (9/10)...

If we can put together a third win in a row, I say go Twins. Put us 2.5 games back from the division, even if we are still .5 back from the Twins for the Wild Card, that's a spot where both teams are fully within reach, especially when playing both 3 more times.

If we lose today, obviously, I say go Tigers, they can have their extra game on the lead as long as we're still in a virtual tie for the Wild Card. Anyone agree?

It's definitely a better situation either way if we can win. So really what i mean to say is: :gosox1:

I still want the Tigers to win today, both the Twins and Tigers have much easier schedules the rest of the way I'd much rather have the Sox take over the wild card lead and be completely in control of their destiny than have the Sox move to 2 GB (L column) in the division.

The West coast trip looms large. As long as the Sox don't piss their pants out there, they have a shot. I still cling more to the wild card. As bad as Detroit has been, they still have 6or 7 left with KC, a team they have manhandled. I hope the Sox can get on a roll here. History suggests that you don't want to have to win 2 or 3 that final series in Minnesota.

Good point about the west coast trip. The sox need to stay at least even out there. The way KC is manhandling teams lately like Minny, the sox, and Boston, the Tigers should have their hands full there

KC is a different team now then they were earlier in the seaosn. They've actually been almos decent the second half. Hopefully they can play the role of spoiler for Detroit.

KC is due to beat the Tigers eventually. They have been playing much better ball of late. They are 7-4 in their last 11 games while playing the top of the AL: (MIN, SOX, NYY, and BOS).

I am also worried about the West Coast trip, but the Sox do get a day off between series on the 14th, and since they are playing a day game today, they will get to the West Coast tonight. I would say a 3-3 West Coast trip would be a success and going 4-2 would be huge before the DET series.

Anyone think they'll actually get the game in today? It's been raining all day and doesn't look to let up anytime soon.

How soon would they call it? I have a long way to travel to go the game and hate to have to turn around and come right back home.

It being a day game they may wait it out all day to try to get it in, even if it forces the game into a night game. It's the end of the season, making it potentially very difficult to make the game up.

These two series out there pretty much determine the season for us, and I'm not a fan of historical perspective but it doesn't look good for us. I will be impressed with a 3 and 3 record. Then our last one with Detroit. Our pitchers either turn it around now, or it ain't gonna happen for the last two weeks of the season. I wonder if we're gonna pull another 2005 Sox push like we did the last 5 games of the season, setting it up perfectly for the post-season.

The Tigers will lose 2 to KC. Like a few have said, not only is KC a different team right now, but the Tigers are as well.

I really dont know what I want to happen today. I guess im rooting for a White Sox Winner.

The Royals lost their best player in Teahan (sp?) for the rest of the year...that's a big bat that's no longer around.

Issued by the National Weather Service at 11:00 am CDT on September 10, 2006

Light rain and rain showers will continue to move northeastward across the area through 1 PM CDT. The most widespread rain will occur generally of Interstate 80...with widely scattered light showers to the south of this area.

Looks like it should subside around gametime and become on-and-off after that. Should get it in.

Another way to look at it imo is that the with the closer we are to Detroit, we kind of give ourselves two outs to make the playoffs. If one of those teams struggle then we can get in instead of just relying on Minny to lose. I really don't care who wins today between those two, just hoping the Sox win.
