Soxfest prices doubled this year

I don't know either.

You said that the place is 1/4 the size of the Hyatt. The Hyatt held about 15,000 comfortably throughout the weekend. 5,000 is a complete guess and could be way off but I keep hearing how tiny this place is.

But all the guests at Soxfest were not hotel guests. Less than half I would bet.

The guess of 5,000 includes hotel guests and single-day passes for the entire weekend.

In 2005 there were about 12,000 people there the entire weekend.

Last year there were about 25,000 people.

This year, based on how small I keep hearing this place is, I'm guessing there will be about 5,000.

I have no idea how you're making your guesses so I'm bowing out of the numbers talk.

Based on this comment:

I don't work for the Hyatt nor the Palmer House Hilton so I have no idea other than guessing at their capasity. Perhaps you could call them for a more accurate guess.

It's not a big deal.

The only thing is if they squeeze in even close to the number of people they had at the "sold-out" 2005 fest, then their flimsy excuse of need to raise prices because they (willingly) went to a smaller venue is going to look really bad. If they had to double the prices because only half the number of people can attend, that might make a little more sense.

I guess we won't know until the press release after Soxfest.

I cannot IMAGINE what the room will be like when they do the Q&A with Ozzie after this turd of a season.

Yeesh.

Shades of 2004? Where, I believe, KW had to be escorted out or something?

KW has always stood up and taken every verbal beating (and finger waving) at every seminar I've been to.

IIRC, 2004 was the year they actually went over the alloted time because KW told everyone that he wanted to hear what they had to say.

My guess on the running of this event after last years and to an extent the Grinder Bash is that the Sox now have to try and limit attendance. I would think you have to look at how the cub convention is run.

I think they are trying to rid the convention of simple autograph and memorabilia hawks and trying to price them out. At the same time making hte event enjoyable for the players and the fans that do attend.

I also believe security is probably an issue with the crowd last year.

Just a couple of thoughts.

I think it might cause the opposite affect. P

eople with families that just go there for a weekend away to enjoy themselves are being priced out. The autograph hawks are probably willing to spend a little more money because they know they'll get at least some of it back by selling their stuff.

They had to do something, last year was ridiculous. Considering all the conventions they have in this huge city, its shocking they couldn't find a venue to accomodate more fans. Oh well, if you don't go, at least you won't have to hear the optimism of the starting rotation picking it up in September and building on that in 2007.

people in my section asked me what I thought of the new SoxFest plan. Told them I didnt like it.

Needless to say, people were furious about this, every person saying they were NOT going to seek SoxFest tickets in 07. Ive got to think this is going to backfire badly on the SOX
