When I was in high school I played tight end and outside linebacker and I broke my hand during practice. They actually had me get a cast and clubbed it and still let me play. I actually had a catch with my hand completely taped up.

A little over a year ago I was in a car accident and completely tore my achilles and shattered my ankle. I had been playing some organized sports for fun prior but cant anymore. I can completely sympathize with this kind of stuff. My friend who was our middle linebacker tore his acl and made a full recovery and played in college so hopefully with time youll be back to 100%. Im still dumbfounded how athletes can tear their achilles and play sports like football anymore. There is no way I would be able to.

PS: I got my Vicodin tonight. It hasn't done s-it for me, and I took it about an hour ago.

That's all right, though. That's why I have a set of testicles and vocal cords: to take the pain with a "fu-k!"

Even though that, ah, doesn't sound right.

Maybe you received faulty Vicodin, why don't you send them to me and I'll check them out for you.

Simple: passion. I could have easily quit basketball, soccer, and baseball because of injury, but there is no chance in hell that I would ever quit. And knowing Greg, he wouldn't quit soccer either.

Wow, I can still pay basketball and baseball. I noticed you didnt say football and I dont know if you have had an inury like the one I had but it isnt quite that simple. The positions I played were contingent on acceleration and cutting. My ankle has been reconstructed with plates and screws and my tendon was repaired to tightly considering it was completely severed. Thats insulting to question my passion for sports I played and nobody i ever played with ever would, My ankle simply cant support it and Ill have problems walking for the rest of my life do to a drunk driver. Lots of athletes have had career ending inuries. Not everything is healable in the sports world. Tell guys like Terrell Davis, Michael Irvin, Joe Theisman they have lack of passion.

Slow down there. I never questioned your passion for the game. I didn't think you meant the physical aspect, I interpreted it as if you were commenting on the mental side. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Sheesh.

Ok, sorry for the overanalyzing then, just a touchy subject with me because of how much I loved playing sports. :cheers

Right on! I only quit baseball because I couldn't deal with my schools management, but since I play it all the time in my free time now, I never really quit it.

I'm glad you two settled your spat. I feel your grumpiness, DB. I'm touchy about somethings, too. Glad we're all on the same page.

I wish you guys could of seen my catch with a club on my hand for a 30 yard gain though. Our running game was so good they didnt cover me, our qb didnt want to throw it to me for obvious reasons. Talk about the croud findind something entertaining :lolhitting

I've got a date Saturday that's moved from the Calypso Cafe to movie-watching in my bedroom because of my knee-brace. Further, I picked up bonus points because my girl is happy that, even hurt, I'd like to see her, and I played that perfectly: "Of course I'd still like to spend time with you, hurt. I'm sure it'd make me feel better!"

That is, honestly, how I feel, but the perfectness of it all isn't beyond me. Should be nice to curl up and cuddle for awhile, and get my mind off the pain.

Speaking of which: I'm starting to wonder if I've torn my ACL. We'll know tomorrow, I suppose. Today, really.

I loved sports. I felt I had passion, cause I sucked at basketball, and I sucked hard, yet I still went every damn day. There's different types of passion, I guess.

Carry on.

Yeah kind of like me. I played basketball and tennis during the week with work. With Basketball, I just cannot shoot well unless it's a layup, but at least in tennis I'm better even if I'm known as "The Lob King".

Hope things work out for your knee there GP. Sounds very, very painful.

Back.

They drained a hundred CCs of blood from my left knee. It's less swollen, but still hurts a good bit.

Something's torn "for sure," and they say it's probably the ACL because of the amount of blood. My MRI is scheduled for September twenty sixth, and my follow-up with the Specialist is October second.

A small thing to be thankful for, back in the stone age when I was in High School, this was a career ender. You'd be looking at having your knee laid wide open and a huge scar. Today, you'll be right as rain and back on the field next season.

So...are we going to watch porn and share Vicodin anytime soon?

:lolhitting sorry buddy, I'm leaving to spend my day encouraging young boys to join Cub Scouts and some adults to donate to the United Way.

A couple of things I forgot to mention: when they drained me of all that blood, I began to cackle after awhile because of the pain. Better to laugh than to scream, isn't it?

Also: the same fellow who took care of my right index finger five years ago is doing the treatments for my left knee.

Kind of cool.
