santo=dorf
1. Garcia flirts with a no-hitter until Sox Killer Jacque Jones leads off the 8th inning with a Solo homer. Freddy and the Sox lose to Johan Santana and the Twins 1-0. 8 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K's 16 Ground ball outs. 2. Freddy Garcia flirts with a perfect game until scrappy Adam Kennedy hits a soft liner into centerfield with two outs in the 8th. 8 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 0 BB, 3 K's 3. The Sox win their second game out of their last SEVENTEEN in Oakland behind the strong effort of Freddy. The game ended when Shingo Takatsu snared Adam Melhuse's liner at chest level giving future Royals' All-Star, Mark Redman, the loss. 6.2 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 2 BB, 6 K's 4. After surrendering a first inning 3-run homer to Brad Hawpe, "First inning Freddy" looked to be in full effect. Garcia went on to set a Coors Field record by retiring the next 22 consecutive batters. The same Rockies announcers who witnessed Hideo Nomo's no-hitter Colorado called Garcia's performance "the most dominating performancing they have ever seen at Coors Field." 8 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 10 K's 5. Karma comes back to Freddy Garica as he overcame the lack of run support by the Sox and outdueled Anthony Reyes. Sox win 1-0 on "unclutch" Jim Thome's 7th inning homer. The only Sox hit. 8 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 2 K's, 14 GB outs. 6. Twenty-four hours after Mark Buehrle faced the minimum 27 batters in a two-hitter, Garcia shut down on of baseball's best-hitting lineups over the past two weeks. Freddy Garcia's strong shutout seven innings help the Sox defeat C.C "Needsa" Sabathia (yes, we've actually beaten him before.) The highlight of the game was one of Ozzie's first of many screwups when he came out to bring in lefty Damaso Marte to face left-hander Travis Hafner. First base umpire Joe West thought Guillen was signaling with his right hand, and West walked to the bullpen to escort right-hander Cliff Politte to the mound instead. "I screwed it up," admitted Guillen, who only briefly argued his point with West. "I used my right hand. So I told him, 'Bring me what you want." 7 IP, 0 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 9 K's 7. Garcia continues to haunt the Angels as the White Sox became the first team to pitch three straight complete games in the postseason since the New York Mets' Tom Seaver, Jon Matlack and Jerry Koosman in the first three games of the 1973 NLCS against Cincinnati. 9 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 5 K's. 8. Freddy Garcia pitches out of a tough 6th inning jam and pitches 7 shutout innings leaing the Sox to their first World Series title in 88 years. 7 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, 7 K's Ok, the answer is pretty obvious, but I thought this would make a good read until the next game late Friday night. WHarris1
Colorado, Cardinals, Twins, and today are all amazing
Gregory Pratt
If I could be guaranteed that Garcia's fastball will be back after resting in the offseason, I'd have no problem bringing him back. As it stands, he'll probably be gone, and we'll have to deal with it. I'll miss him, because even though he's let me down real bad this year, he's still Freddy Garcia, and Freddy Garcia is a good pitcher who can be great. aboz56
The World Series game, by far.
KipWellsFan
I was actually at the 1 hit loser in Minny. That was depressing. Everyone at the time was saying the Sox were in the middle of a huge choke.
Steve9347
gee... maybe the world series clincher?
JoeBatterz
I voted too fast as I picked today. However, today was pretty much a must win and even if we lost Game #4, we still would have had 3 more chances to clinch. (Ok, that is a weak arguement)
GoodAsGould
The most important game was the WS clincher but his best start I think was either today or that Colorado game. I know that 3 run HR takes away from it but he was just amazing after that.
GreatScott82
It looks like all of our starters have FINALLY fixed their kinks. NOW if only the bullpen can get into shape. McDougal's injury worries me since him and Thorton have been the only true consistent relievers as of late. I'm not as worried about Jenks as most of you are. He's a 1 inning pitcher and he has 40 saves. Im worried about McCarthy, Cotts and Riske however they just have been brutal!
whitesoxin'
Im thinking 8 shutout innings in the world series clinching game on the road is quite an accomplishment. He got out of some HUGE pressure situations in that game too. On a side note, why isn't the division clinching game from last year on the list? He pitched great that game. santo=dorf
QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> On a side note, why isn't the division clinching game from last year on the list? He pitched great that game. Because Freddy isn't a big game pitcher I tried to get some 2004 moments in there as well just as a refresher. The mlb.com lists Buehrle as the winner in the 05 results page, but here was Garcia's line: 7 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K's Man, Inge killed us that day. hammerhead johnson
QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 08:01 PM) It looks like all of our starters have FINALLY fixed their kinks. You really think so? I mean, aren't opponents like 40 for 40 in stolen base attempts when Freddy is on the mound? What is his fastball topping out at? I think that we should all be scared.
