The Critic
I'm bored, and I was listening to 97.9 FM, The Loop, so here we are: I'm not going to try to define "classic rock", but I just went with what I'd hear on The Loop or The Drive, or any classic rock radio station. As you'll see, my tastes lean towards the 70's end of things. If you want to expand this to include your favorite "deeeeeeep cutssssss" or stuff from that time period that you like, hey, go right ahead! Here are my Top 10, in no particular order: Thin Lizzy - Boys Are Back In Town Aerosmith - Dream On Boston - More Than A Feeling Foreigner - Feels Like The First Time Foghat - Fool For The City Molly Hatchet - Flirtin' With Disaster Electric Light Orchestra - Evil Woman Van Halen - You Really Got Me (also qualifies as a Kinks song, but I like the VH version better) Cheap Trick - Surrender Pat Travers - Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights) Your turn - don't be shy, there's nothing to be ashamed of!! Texsox
Some that come to mind, and being lazy and just starting with your list, which btw, is pretty damn good. Joe Cocker - Feelin' Alright The Who - Baba O'Reilly The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again Aerosmith - Dream On Eagles - Hotel California Chicago - Saturday in the Park Gaye - What's Goin On Springsteen - Born to Run Electric Light Orchestra - Evil Woman Van Halen - You Really Got Me AC/DC - Shook Me All Night Long But my list goes to eleven . . . FlaSoxxJim
Two of Critic's picks would make my list Thin Lizzy - Boys Are Back In Town Cheap Trick - Surrender I believe he and I both got ragged on by Gleason for it the last time we did this too. I'll have to think abot the rest of that list.

hammerhead johnson
I was able to narrow it down to about 30. I'm at the point right now where I could just go with a Top 30 of strictly Bob Dylan. A good 2/3 of what I like from him is on bootleg, though. Van Morrison- Caravan (San Francisco 1970) Van Morrison- Into The Mystic (Los Angeles 1971) Van Morrison- Ballerina (Los Angeles 1971) Van Morrison- Street Choir (Montreux 1974) Credence Clearwater Revival- Proud Mary Credence Clearwater Revival- Have You Ever Seen The Rain? Credence Clearwater Revival- Who'll Stop The Rain? Bob Dylan- Don't Think Twice (Manchester 1965) Bob Dylan- One Too Many Mornings (London 1965) Bob Dylan- Idiot Wind (Original) Bob Dylan- Shelter From The Storm Jimi Hendrix- Driving South (Top Gear 1967) Jimi Hendrix- Little Wing Jimi Hendrix- Hey Joe Jimi Hendrix- All Along The Watchtower Beatles- In My Life Beatles- We Can Work It Out (Demo w/ faint accordian) Beatles- Green Onion (Stipped Down Mono) Beatles- Yer Blues The Who- Magic Bus (Isle Of Wright 1970) The Who- Time Is Passing (London 1971) The Who- I Am One (Largo 1973) Allman Brothers- Jessica Allman Brothers- Midnight Rider Allman Brothers- In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed Rolling Stones- Midnight Rambler (MSG 1969) Rolling Stones- Street Fighting Man Rolling Stones- Dead Flowers (Leeds 1971) Canned Heat- On The Road Again Canned Heat- Going Up The Country

FlaSoxxJim
Hello, It's Me by Todd Rundgren is, I think, the perfect pop song, so I'd add that to my list. I think Twenty Five or Six to Four has to make my list as well. I loved me some Terry Kath. bmags, anybody who'd get on you for including Day in the Life and God Only Knows (great picks) probably also likes ketchup on their hotdogs, so they can pound sand. Kid Gleason
Oh geesh, I have nothing against Cheap Trick, in fact I love the heck out of them. I just think "Boys Are Back In Town" is highly overrated. But that's just me. I don't know if these are the "greatest", but they all jumped into my head pretty quick, and a few of them I would consider the "Greatest", especially the first one. You're My Girl (live) - Faces (quite possibly the single greatest Rock and Roll recording ever) Solid Gold Easy Action - T Rex Carry On Wayward Son - Kansas Renegade - Styx Miss Judys Farm - Faces Baby Won't Ya - MC5 Mob Rules - Black Sabbath Long Way From Home - Foriegner Spirit Of The Radio - Rush Shine My Machine - Suzi Quatro
Flash Tizzle
Only a handful of responses? Disgraceful. The Guess Who -- No Time Badfinger -- No Matter What Deep Purple -- Perfect Strangers Bad Company -- Ready For Love Pink Floyd -- Comfortably Numb Pink Floyd -- Keep Talking Derek and the Dominoes -- Layla Simon and Garfunkel -- The Boxer Ten Years After -- I'd Love To Change The World Rolling Stones -- Gimme Shelter
Rex Hudler
I don't know how the hell I could narrow it to 10 or even close. But I will say that The Critic and Texsox' lists are very representative of where mine would be.

Texsox
I could make another top 10 list, and be happy with it, just from some of the ones on everyone elses' list. I would say my top 3 would be Feelin' Alright - Cocker Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC Anyone of several Who tunes. Hello It's Me is an incredible pop song and worthy of top honors. I'd probably also have to pull something off Tapestry and perhaps At Seventeen or Clouds and try them all on . . . #1 Guilty Pleasure -- Brandy

Rex Kickass
I'd agree to Day In The Life before I agree to anything by Marvin Gaye. Marvin Gaye is not Classic Rock. Marvin Gaye = just about perfection. My list: Guns N Roses - Welcome To The Jungle Scott Walker - 30th Century Man Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond King Crimson - I Talk To The Wind The Beach Boys - Sail on Sailor Chicago - Beginnings REO Speedwagon - Riding The Storm Out (Live) Tommy James and the Shondells - Crimson & Clover Iggy and the Stooges - Search and Destroy Ritchie Havens - Freedom

My list of the Top 10 Classic Rock Sounds would not be the same as my list of my favorite 10 songe from that era. For me, cracking the charts at least would be the minimum requirement to make the classic rock top 10. Songs like FZ's Uncle Remus, and Genesis' Battle of Epping Forest would probably make the cut in my favorites from that era, but I wouldn't put them in the top 10 classics because they didn't chart. Of course there are no rules here, and I just tend to suck the fun out of everything, so nevermind. Carry on. Love most of the songs in that list, btw. Yoda
There is no way I could chose a top 10, but here’s at least 10 songs that I wouldn’t bother hearing over and over if I were stranded in a unknown island: 10. Don’t Fear The Reaper - BOC 9. Time - Pink Floyd 8. Its My Life - The Animals 7. Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix 6. Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan 5. Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin 4. Won’t Get Fooled Again - The Who 3. Have You Ever Seen The Rain? - CCR 2. Sympathy For the Devil - Stones 1. Strawberry Fields Forever - The Beatle
