kwolf68
Tonights game is our season...I think if we win tonight, we can sweep Seattle and be in position to make it interesting. That's what I'd like to see.
Flash Tizzle
QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) Who the hell is saying they ARE going to win...? No one. You're right, no one definitively said we're going to win. However, even suggesting it's possible deserves criticism. Personally, I was sarcastic; but not overly critical of the poster. Such personal threats, as you may interpret them, haven't occured to my knowledge. I provided evidence, even slight, to support my end of the argument. Where's theirs? If you say Mark sucks, yes you should get a response and it should get a response because it's a debatable comment. If I say I think they can pull it out and win because I have faith that's my opinion, you get a big FU if you choose to s*** on me for it. Can you not see the double standard you're imposing? Criticizing Buehlre is obviously debateable, in your mind, yet overcoming a 5 game deficit with 11 games to play isn't? Especially if faith is the only foundation for believing in such an event. Steff, you can argue semantics with me all you want. I'm sure you'll reply to this post by saying I somehow misunderstood you, or the true meaning behind your reply. I'd like to believe after 16 years of education I'm capable of comprehending the meaning of a simple sentence. WilliamTell
Either way, winning 9 of 11 or 10 of 11, the White Sox need to win this game tonight.
greg775
Tonights game is our season Yea it was our season. Just like a ton of other "big" games we dropped during this horrid second half. That close up of Oz when he came out to take out Thornton told it all. We are and were a beaten team. Losing SUCKS!
Steff
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) Steff, you can argue semantics with me all you want. I'd like to believe after 16 years of education I'm capable of comprehending the meaning of a simple sentence. You misunderstood nothing. Calling out someone for keeping the faith is assinine. Comprehend that how you choose. It doesn't change the ignorance behind the comments.
RME JICO
These games are not the reason the Sox didn't make the postseason. These games were: 14-11 vs TB and KC, and 7-9 vs CLE.
GreatScott82
QUOTE(RME JICO @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) These games are not the reason the Sox didn't make the postseason. These games were: 14-11 vs TB and KC, and 7-9 vs CLE. awesome post!! yep that just about sums it up. imagine if they went say 17-8 vs TB and KC and 10-6 vs Cleveland? we would be either tied of just a half game back of the race right now. So yes there is a reason when that old saying "every game counts" takes place.
chisoxdavid
I refuse to believe that we are out.........WIN OR DIE tying. You never know, if we can get with in 2 games of the Twins by the time we head up there anything can happen.

Faith, as in religion or the religion of baseball (watch Bull Durham again) cannot be supported by logic. That faith shall exist until the numbers tell us its impossible not improbable. Critism of faith is in itself illogical. Faith defies logic and the improbable and doesn't need evidence.

greg775
Somebody on here made the best point. The most disappointing thing about this collapse is we did wait all year for Detroit to fade and when they did we played some of the worst ball imaginable. After we swept Detroit in that series in chicago in August, who would have thought we'd limp home like this. I didn't at the time. Never has a team wasted such numbers in the middle of the order. Look at thome, crede, paulie, dye numbers. My gawd. How could we not at least make playoffs? Easy. Anderson, Uribe, Mack, Pods were as bad as those four were good not to mention our unreliable pitching, starters and pen.
