Hadzus is down for the season. Wow, what a 2 game stretch.

That is REAL bad, ugh. If they can survive a few weeks until Havlat, Nikolai, and Ruutu are healthy, they could still make the playoffs, but I wouldn't count on it. Although the division as a whole looks to be down this year, which is a plus.

3 games without a goal. Yuck.

Amazing what a difference two guys can make.

It's called bad management. Instead of having nobody on the team, you "improve" by building one around only a couple of guys that can't get hurt. They went from the 90's Clippers (giant suckfest of nothing) to the 2000's Cubs (relying on a couple injury prone guys).

And how the hell were they supposed to go about that in one summer?

Look, they lost their 2 top forwards, and their 3rd best one is just coming back form injury. Any team's scoring would go down with those injuries.

The hawks are building the right way, and injuries have cost em early on. This past off season was a good one by Dale, regardless of how many goals they aren't scoring right now. You weren't going to turn this team into a stanley cup contender in one summer with bandaid fixes. We're a few years away, and we knew that going in. Nothing's going to happen til toews and skille get here and are impact players.

BTW, if you could tell me how the injuries to havlat, handzus, or ruutu have anything to do with injury prone, please enlighten me. Because none of them did, if you saw how they went down. So don't use that weak argument.

Yes, bad management. Damn Tallon for injuring Havlat, Zues, Khabibulin, and Ruutu. Damn him to hell!

Look; injury prone or not, no team would survive losing their top four players.

I know the Hawks created a lot of excitement early on with their pre-season and their good start, but this Hawks team, even if it didn't endure one injury, wasn't destined for a top five spot in the West. The bulk of this team's core is still in the minors/college/juniors. I know people hate hearing the word "patience", but the Hawks are still a year or two away. Their past three first-round picks -- Cam Barker, Jon Toews, and Jack Skille -- should ALL make the team next year.

Again: Yes, it's probably going to be another deflating season for the Hawks (although once Ruutu becomes healthy enough, they can still have a great first line with Vrbata/Ruutu/Havlat), but even going into the season, if your expectations were higher than the 7th or 8th spot in the West, I question your hockey knowledge.

The Hawks are definately playing better under Savard. I'm just glad they finally had the balls to dump that bum Yawney. Savy already got an extension too so he'll be here next season as well (I'm sure if things go well this year they'd consider giving him another 2 years).

Savy is a perfect pick for the "new" NHL, especially with all of the skilled offensive kids in the system, and soon to be in the system.

TalkBhawks.com will be closing its doors.

That's understandable. The idea was fine, but the upkeep (with now two viruses/hackers) was probably too much considering the small community. I'm cool with posting my Hawk thoughts in this thread.

The big problem was the version of the board was super-vulnerable to hacking, and with as few members as it had, it didn't pay to put up the cash for a new version for like 20 people. Maybe in the future if they fix the holes in the invision boards, but it just isn't practical right now.

Ya, if it weren't for the hackers I'd have left it up and let it grow cause there were some good posts there but the viruses and stuff just make it not worth it and I wasn't going to shell out a couple hundred bucks on getting new forum software.

That said hopefully Hawks discussions sprout up here.

However, If you guys want I can try to find another option of board software that I may know of or something along those lines.

Meh. Personally speaking, I don't think it's worth it. I liked the little community we had, but I don't think it's worth it to go through with another software. I'm okay with lurking at Stuy's board and talking in this thread.
