GoSox05
maybe they can give out free slurpees if the sox score in the 7th inning. That would be a wonderful thing.

Ads on the unis aren't going to happen anytime soon.
Soxfest
That is not worth 500,000, ESPN will not be happy to add Sox to there schedule with this nonsense! Edited October 11, 2006 by Soxfest

Dick Allen
QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 09:01 AM) Ads on Uniforms are right around the Corner I agree. It wasn't too long ago that ads on outfield walls were minor league. I think the Sox will be sporting a US Cellular patch on their unis sometime soon. Once its approved and 1 team takes the plung, all the others will follow.

That's right, its not a big difference, and since they were torn between 7 and 7:30 start times, it sort of splits the difference and puts a few more dollars into the budget. Its not a bad thing. I wonder if Slurpees will be served at the park.

Last I checked, 11 (7:11) minus 5 (7:05) was 6. But I agree with your sentiment - ESPN could care less. Or, MLB can simply tell the Sox to move it up to 7:05 those specific games. Controlled Chaos
QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) Friday is considered a "weekend". Does that article specify? I'm not registering, and there is no confirmation of this anywhere else including WhiteSox.com. It says this in the article steff... It is not easy to conjure $500,000 out of the ether, but the White Sox have discovered a way. Their financial trick was really quite simple. They changed their weeknight starting times at U.S. Cellular Field. No more 7:05 p.m. or 7:35 p.m. games, of which there are about 50. They will all begin, for the next three seasons, at 7:11 p.m., courtesy of 7-Eleven, the convenience store giant, which will pay the team an average of a half-million dollars a year to be the name behind the time. thedoctor
i don't mind this stuff. i remember all the hang-wringing when the bears announced their partnership with bankone. people suggested all these nightmare scenarios (uniform patches, the logo on the helmet, etc.) but they never materialized. to people not going to the game, the influence of bankone is benign, if not nonexistent. i have no problem with this. my only question is where is the money going? is this something that could allow greater payroll flexibility in the future, or will these funds be diverted into another bucket?
