AssHatSoxFan
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 23, 2007 -> 08:42 PM) ILL is playing good D, best I've seen against IU this year. Wilmont has been a non-factor and Bassett is forcing shots. They (Illinois) are playing like a team hungry for a win. i hope they are hungry; randle should learn from these guys how to give effort and not made stupid decisions
aboz56
ILL up 8 with a chance to go up 9. Game ova. Solid W for ILL, they played like they wanted it more and deserved to win the game. IU, on the other hand, played terrible. They didn't seem like they were ready to play tonight at all. Anyhow, glad this game is over and the distraction of Weber vs. Sampson and the hostile environment is done for this season. Time to regroup and get ready for Michigan on Saturday. Congrats to the ILL fans here on the board, glad to see another team play some good solid D. I think this is the first game where we really lived by the 3. We weren't hitting, so we died. Just a pathetic offensive effort.
AssHatSoxFan
that was a great defensive effort especially limiting White's touches down low and controlling the outside looks after that hot start EDIT: too bad we couldnt hold you guys to under 40! greasywheels121
Congrats Illini fans. UI needed this win, and they came out doing all that was necessary. They did a great job keeping IU from doing anything on offense. It felt like we didn’t show up with the performance we had out there. That can be partially true, but Illinois played some great ball with Randle on the bench all night. IU needs to rebound with their next two against Michigan and Wiscy. WHarris1
Whew. We needed that like no other. Absolutely huge win. Way to step up defense. Ugly or not, we needed a win and got it.

WHarris1
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 23, 2007 -> 08:00 PM) I missed it, was there a postgame handshake? Yup, but that was about it. Quick shake. Get your head out your ass Bilas. Obviously Weber wouldn't have turned EJ down, but there would have been communication. Not that hard to understand. But s***, if I hear his name one more time I'm gonna choke someone.

Both the pregame and postgame handshakes were far worse than anything Belichick has ever done on a playing field. Still I really couldn't care less, especially after that last second buzzer beater by Marshall. Edited January 24, 2007 by redandwhite

Soxbadger
After that offensive performance the classy thing for Weber to have done is offer Indiana another prospect. Illinois did OSU and Wisconsin a huge solid tonight.

I mean not only is that just wrong, but at least Weber has a motive to be upset. I don't see a reason for him to be upset at Sampson and if Weber is upset at an 18 year old high schooler, then the guy has serious problems that have nothing to do with basketball. Weber is not upset at the 18 year old high schooler. Is your memory short BTW? Weber gave Sampson more of anything than Bill gave to Peyton just 2 days ago. Is your memory short BTW? Weber gave Sampson more of anything than Bill gave to Peyton just 2 days ago. So then he's upset at Sampson.. but.. for what? According to Peyton Manning, Bill gave him plenty of praise. That's not the point. Illini fans shouldn't bad mouth Belichick if they stand by Weber, a person Belichick should take a s*** on in terms of what they have accomplished in their respective sports. It would have been a big win for Florida St with Boston College reeling, but somehow someway Al Skinner, Jared Dudley, Sean Marshall, and Tyrese Rice are determined to take this team to the big dance. What a ballgame.
aboz56
Given the circumstances, I thought the exchanges were fine by both men. I don't really see where there should be anymore controversy about this. We've all said our piece on it, there's nothing left to say. I don't feel Weber really did anything wrong tonight at all, at least he shook his hand and acted somewhat cordial. What do you expect him to do, stand there and have a 5 minute conversation? Usually I have a tendency to not let things go, but on this one, I am taking the high road, congratulations to Illinois and their fans, you guys wanted it more and deserved to win. The fanbases have gone through enough verbal banter, so there's no reason to start anything else.
