CWSGuy406
So, I come home from Marquette for the weekend, and a high school buddy IMs me, asking what I'm doing tomorrow. Well -- I'm supposed to use this weekend to work on a speech for Monday, but he offers up a ticket to the playoff game tomorrow. The speech will take a back seat. I'm pretty pumped, although.... I sort of feel bad. I consider myself a Bulls fan, but I'm not nearly as hardcore about them as I am the Sox or Hawks. In reality, I don't deserve this ticket, but I'll do my best to root for a Bulls victory tomorrow. As far as the game itself, I hope Skiles doesn't bury Thomas like he did Wednesday. I think a quicker Bulls team can take it to the Heat, so I'd hope to see more Sefolosha and less Malik Allen/Adrian Griffen -- although I doubt that will happen. Finally, the foundation of Hinrich, Deng and Gordon all have to be good. I don't think any one of them has to be great -- so long as the defense is there -- but all three need to be good. Go Bulls! whitesoxfan101
Everybody will whine about the refs, but both teams shot 27 free throws (and were great at it, Bulls made 23 and the Heat 22), so whatever. The fact that the Bulls can win when they go 3 for 17 on 3's, Hinrich has 2 points and is in foul trouble, Thomas has only 2 points and 1 board, and PJ Brown has 2 points and hardly plays is a great sign for the prospects in this series. 46 to 33 on the glass overall too for the Bulls, Heat looking a little old going after the loose balls. The differences were Gordon with 24, 11, and 7. My big concern was the quarter court trap on Gordon, but he handeled it well with 11 dimes....we're in good shape if he can keep that up. Obviously Deng with 33 and 8 is huge, and Big Ben was outstanding today. He got blow torched in the 1st by Shaq, but he was EVERYWHERE after that. Also kudos to Sefolosha, when Hinrich was in foul trouble and Duhon was just too small to stay in there, Thabo was HUGE with the 9 points and good defense. GoodAsGould
I have a feeling PJ Brown will haver very little use this series, besides picking up fouls.
DBAHO
Sigh. 43% from the line and 18TO's so far. We've wasted shooting over 57% from the field, and it's the same story all season. Dwight 3 for 11 from the line. That's embarrising.
GoodAsGould
I think the Magic played surprisingly well, if not for the horribleness at the free throw line you guys could have very easily won that game. Rasheed Wallace wont be as good as he was today for most of the games, he couldnt miss it seemed.
Gene Honda Civic
Missed the game today... Let me just say that I'm shocked, SHOCKED, that the Heat are complaining about the officiating after game 1. Has there ever been a Pat Riley led team that didn't complain about the officiating after a playoff loss?

DBAHO
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 01:12 PM) I think the Magic played surprisingly well, if not for the horribleness at the free throw line you guys could have very easily won that game. Rasheed Wallace wont be as good as he was today for most of the games, he couldnt miss it seemed. Detroit are just going to use the Hack a Howard strategy, until he starts making free throws. Honestly just on Dwight Howard if Clifford Ray stayed as the Magic big man coach, Howard would be a top 5 player in the NBA already. Instead, Ray has moved to Boston and you saw the massive improvements Al Jefferson made in his game this season. Howard may still become that type of player in the future but for now without Ray his development has been stunted. And like I've said before, I'd give up anyone not named Howard to acquire Deron Williams. I'm sick of smaller guards like Jameer Nelson who don't distribute the ball on the offensive side, being abused by taller guards like Chauncey Billups on the defensive side of the ball. And there's been rumors of a Andre Miller for Nelson deal as well.
RockRaines
I was at the game today, the refs were incredible bad, but for both teams. if Deng plays like this the whole time, we are golden. The kid is the next superstar in the uni.
witesoxfan
QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 12:17 AM) Tyrus that was the game, regardless of score. such a huge swing in momentum. I haven't posted in this thread, but I said that was the game. Obviously it was close, but I told Willie that exact same thing, and it turned out that way. I was probably a little lucky, but that was such a huge turning point of the game it wasn't even funny. A 4 point swing? with 2 blocks involved by the player that MADE it a 4 point swing? Yeah, I'm not sure the game turns out the same. As a non-NBA fan, Tyrus Thomas is gonna be f***ing good; he already is. Obviously he's going to get better. He's not the type you'll build a franchise around, like even perhaps Lamarcus Aldridge. However he's not a roleplayer; he's the type of player that's necessary for a Chamionship team. Greg The Bull Luzinski
Forgive my "un-knowing-ness", but I am not much of a basketball fan and you guys seem pretty knowledgeable. How is it that the Bulls are the lower seed (5), yet have homefield advantage vs a 4th seed. I know there is a lot of complaining about the seeding method, but I have not heard this explained. SoxFan1
Each conference is now allowed a team to put in the top 3 when it comes to seeding. Previously, the 3 division winners were the top 3 seeds, but some teams that would finish 2nd or 3rd in their division, could have won one or both of the other divisions. It's not perfect yet, since the division winners now have top be in the top 4, not all in the top 3. So with the possibilities of better records at lower seeds, the team with the better record, no matter the seed, gets home court.
Greg The Bull Luzinski
Thanks for the explanation. I'm glad that I am not the only one that thinks this is a little messed up.
knightni
In a perfect world, the Bulls should have gotten the 3rd seed.
GoodAsGould
I dont even get the point of divisions, we dont play the teams in our division anymore than we do the teams out of it do we? NBA needs a lot of fixing with the lottery, playoffs, refs?

Now lets take care of business on the road cause I dont' want a repeat of the Wizards series from two years ago. Well that season was our first year in playoffs and we were down 2 starters, so hard to compare the two at all. Even if we lose this series cant really compare them. whitesoxfan101
Just get 1 in Miami to come home 3-1 and it's over in 5. The Bulls are just too quick and deep, and Wade and Shaq aren't themselves.

They're old, banged up, and may just not have the fight in them to try to come back 3-0. I agree. ...and NO MORE DUHON ON WADE, DAMMIT! Now that Sefolosha is burying open jump shots, there's no reason for Duhon to be in the game with the purpose of guarding Wade. Hinrich + Thabo can take him for 48 minutes. It's one thing if Hinrich gets into foul trouble, but if he's okay, no Chris.
