Darko's agent has said there's no chance he's re-signing with the Magic now as long as Otis Smith is GM.

Don't think Otis has really handled this greatly, although we have ended up with a star in Lewis.

Real chance now for the Bulls to get him, and they should do whatever they can to do so.

A frontcourt of Wallace, Milicic, Thomas and Noah is well pretty good, and would make the Bulls favorites in the East IMHO.

I feel stupid for asking, but what's an MLE? A contract of some sort, yes?

I could try and explain it but it would probably be more confusing so here is what Larry Coon's FAQ says:

MID-LEVEL SALARY EXCEPTION -- This exception allows a team to sign any free agent to a contract equal to the average salary, even if they are over the cap (see question number 24 for the definition of "average salary." Also note that for 2005-06 they used a defined figure of $5 million). This exception may be split and given to multiple players. It may be used for contracts of up to five years in length, and raises are limited to 8% of the salary in the first year of the contract. Signing a player to a multi-year contract does not affect a team's ability to use this exception every year. For example, a team can sign a player to a five-year contract using this exception and still use the exception the following year to sign another player. Also see question number 20 for more information on the availability and use of this exception.

Yes, a Mid Level Exception is basically an allotted amount that every team has to spend on free agency, equal to the average salary in the NBA. This years MLE is 5.5 million, and the bi-annual is 1.8 I believe. I was surprised how many people didn't know what it was. Not a stupid question at all CWS.

PTI had something about Noah, Duhon, Noc for Paul Gasol. That would be freaking amazing.

On paper it would be amazing but a part of me is anxious to see Noah play for the Bulls. He will fit in really well with this team.Although Noah and Tyrus dont have many low post skills they still have the ability to score inside points by always being active under the hoop. They have the potential to be a big time inside scoring threat.

Are you kidding? Gasol had a PER (Player Efficiency Rating) of 24.1 last year, which is well above anybody on the Bulls roster. If Memphis wants is Noah, Duhon and Nocioni, Paxson should take that deal and go run around Chicago laughing hysterically. Hell, I'd give them Gordon, Noah and Nocioni -- getting a guy who is going to give you 20 + 9 a night would be well worth losing a starter and two decent bench/energy guys.

We would practically be stealing Gasol if Memphis took it.

I wonder if Paxson is publicly praising Noc and how bad we want to keep him in a way to drive up his trade interest?

Well, Deng was +20.09...

But I agree with you, Noah/Duhon/Noc is fleecing the Grizzlies and if it was on the table and Memphis accepted, Pax would do it in millisecond.

Andres Nocioni has agreed to a contract to remain with the Bulls, according to general manager John Paxson.

The deal is worth approximately $38 million over five years, although George Bass, Nocioni's agent, said he would have no comment until a deal was done. The deal can't be finalized until July 11. Paxson was proactive in re-signing Nocioni, offering him a contract and then seeing who would match it. Memphis showed great interest, but never made him an offer. Paxson is happy with how things proceeded. "We're at the stage where we know our young players have value," Paxson said. "I felt the area we started talking about was a legitimate, fair offer. So I never have problems throwing that out there." Nocioni will likely be the sixth man for the Bulls. Jul. 6 - 3:07 pm et

Well...Bulls get Noc back and I have absolutely no problem with that.

Eh. I'm not a big fan of Noc. Seems he tries to do too much when he isn't one of the top options on the floor. Don't like the money being tied up with him when we will need to re-sign Deng soon.

Pax would not have resigned Noc if it affected the future signing of Deng, or Gordon for that matter. Don't worry there is plenty of money to go around and I would expect Deng to get an extension before the season starts, Ben maybe.

Conley, Darko, and Gasol...not bad

Yeah it isn't too shabby at all. If I was going to pick a major sleeper next season besides Portland, I'd pick Memphis.

Iavaroni was the major reason in Amare Stoduemire's development into a star. Now he has that chance again with Darko Milicic.

Mike Conley will become his version of a poor man's Steve Nash who can't shoot, with Kyle Lowry backing him up. Mike Miller and Rudy Gay on the wings, Milicic and Gasol up front, with Warrick, Johnson etc. on the bench.

I really like that team actually now that I look at it.

You're saying Mike Conley can't shoot? I respectfully disagree.

Well in the future he may be able to, but everything I heard from his workouts was that his shooting was a weakness. I guess we'll see.
