That's what I get for not reading the Trib. It will likely be a no name guy who was in the league for a few years and had a pretty uneventful career, unless of course Mitchell gave other criteria which would squash this theory which I'm sure he did.

It doesnt really matter if it was a no name, its like when you find out just some random guy at your highschool that you seen in the hallway once or twice was a gay.You are gonna say I always wondered about that guy.Than when you see people from school your gonna ask them if they heard about Anthony being a gay.Wow i got issues.

Here is the blurp FWIW

Publicist Howard Bragman, from a Los Angeles-based company called Fifteen Minutes, was spreading the word at the Leigh Steinberg Super Bowl party Saturday that a former NBA player he represents will be announcing publicly that he is gay on Valentine's Day. Bragman would say only that the player has been retired for about three years and was not a member of the Bulls or the Nets. He added that the player was not a prominent name in the NBA. The player also has a book that will be released in conjunction with his public disclosure.

Christian Laetner?

The entire Duke program?

Might as well just libel as many people as I want.

(Official boilerplate language below)

The statements made in this statement or any previous statement are not based on any knowledge or fact. They are entirely made up and therefore can not constitute libel against any of the named or unnamed as they are public figures and this post lacks the required malice.

Ha now I can say what I awnt without fear of legal recourse.

Jerry Krause?

According to Deadspin, every person they've asked has said the player is John Amaechi. The Book is called "The Man in the Middle" and is being published by ESPN books. So as of Valentine's day ESPN will be even more unbearable (if that's even possible.)

I thought this was out long ago when he was photographed kissing his then boyfriend at nightclubs all over Europe when he played there. :huh

Oh well.. good luck to him. Sadly, his life will likely suck for a while.

Has anyone read some of the comments made by NBA players in response to Amaechi?

One player in particular from Philadelphia (don't recall his name) said, when asked about someone coming out -- "don't bring your gayness onto me."

Earlier on Jim Rome, he quoted an extended quote from a player (may have been the same Philadelphia 76er) who basically called the act of homosexuality disgusting.

Now, what I want to know is when the outrage will begin? These are much worse than Guillen calling Mariotiti one three letter word.
