clujer420
This is cut and pasted from ChicagoSports.com Before this season, Daubach spent all but 10 games of his major-league career in a Red Sox uniform. He averaged 21 homers for Boston from 1999-2002 but left for Chicago after the Red Sox declined to tender him an offer. Daubach has remained close to several Red Sox players. "Yeah, everybody," he said earlier in the week. "It's a lot different than here." How so? "Just different," he said. "Leave it at that." Doesn't sound like he's very happy here. I hope we can get him some more playing time -- I think that's the cause of a lot of his apparent frustrations. He's clearly outplaying Paul right now, so there's no reason why he shouldn't be starting in his place. Another thing cut and pasted from the same source... Loaiza figures to make four more starts before the All-Star Game, which will be July 15 at U.S. Cellular Field. How amazing is it that a non-roster invitee has a shot at having 14 wins at the AS break? Esteban!

clujer420
I posted the pertinent parts, but here's the entire article.... After playing behind knuckleballer Tim Wakefield for four years in Boston, Brian Daubach was eager to take his hacks against him. "You talk a lot of smack over the years, especially when it's one of your closer friends," Daubach said Wednesday. "One game doesn't really show who has the edge, but we'll see [Wednesday night]." Daubach showed plenty. He delivered the game-winning hit in the sixth off Wakefield as the White Sox came from behind for a 3-1 victory over Boston. Daubach's two-out double scored D'Angelo Jimenez. Daubach said he didn't take any special pleasure in beating the Red Sox. If anything, it was just the opposite. "I didn't think it would be this tough playing old friends," he said. "Me and Wake, we played cards together on every flight for the last three years. To be out there facing him while my fiance is sitting with his wife, it's weird. It's just really weird." The 2-1 lead that Daubach supplied was enough for Esteban Loaiza, who continued his run of greatness by throwing eight strong innings. The only run he allowed came on a fourth-inning groundout. "Right now I'm really locked in on everything—on and off the field," Loaiza said. The 31-year-old right-hander became the American League's third 10-game winner, joining Seattle's Jamie Moyer and Toronto's Roy Halladay. But neither of those pitchers can touch Loaiza's league-leading 2.15 earned-run average. Loaiza figures to make four more starts before the All-Star Game, which will be July 15 at U.S. Cellular Field. "I would be excited just to make the team," Loaiza said. "But it would be even more special to start the game." Daubach won't be an All-Star, but he has played like one in front of his old teammates. He came off the bench Tuesday to rip an eighth-inning homer off Mike Timlin. As Daubach rounded first base, he raised his right arm. It was an unusual display of emotion given that his team still trailed. "I usually don't get too excited," Daubach said. "I'd never show anybody up. But … I think the circumstances speak for themselves." Before this season, Daubach spent all but 10 games of his major-league career in a Red Sox uniform. "Leave it at that." Daubach has been disappointed with his playing time since joining the White Sox. But that could be changing. Daubach has earned a starting spot for Thursday's game. "We have to give him every opportunity to go out there and hopefully get hot for us," manager Jerry Manuel said. That means Paul Konerko, who grounded into a bases-loaded double play in his one at-bat Wednesday, might have to earn his way back into the lineup. As for Daubach, he said he's ready for the four-game series with the Red Sox to end. "I'm sure going to Boston [in September] will be that much tougher," he said. YASNY
More from Daubach: First baseman Brian Daubach was asked what kind of reception he expects Sox fans to give Sammy Sosa when the Cubs come to the South Side from June 27-29. "These fans are tame," he said. "I have news for you. These fans are nothing here. They're saints. It's like church." Daubach, who played in Boston from 1999-2002, said Red Sox fans are far harsher. "It's just the way it is every day," he said. He should point that out to Mark Buehrle.

If MB was a Yankee with a 3-10 record, he would have probably hung himself by now.

Athletes nowadays need to watch every word they say, because reporters are just chomping at the bit to hear them slip and say something even remotely controversial. Everything they say is going to end up in an article somewhere, and everyone needs to be congnisant of that, or they will learn the hard way like Mark is. That was not intended as a knock on Mark. I think it would be helpful to him to realize is he was in Boston, NY or Philly.... He'd probably be crucified by now. For the record: I am very much a Mark Buehrle fan. That game he got hammered in and boo'ed for... I would have been trying to make him hear me say "Hang in there, Mark"
