southsider2k5
This is a column from our local paper... anyone know the answer? I haven't figured it out myself, so I don't know either. There is a body lying dead on a bed, and on the floor beside it is a pair of scissors. The scissors were instrumental in the death, yet there's no trace of blood. The body reveals no signs of any cuts or bruises. How could this person have been murdered with the pair of scissors?
Queen Prawn
Used it to cut up a package of poison? (Yes I am stretching here lol.)
Controlled Chaos
The person slept on a waterbed and was drowned.
Iwritecode
QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 12:12 PM) The person slept on a waterbed and was drowned. I believe that is the correct answer but it doesn't seem possible to me. The water would've more than likely drained onto the floor as the liners on those things usually aren't completely sealed. I just got a hole in my mattress a few weeks ago and I found it because the water was dripping onto my floor.
Flash Tizzle
QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 12:12 PM) The person slept on a waterbed and was drowned. Damn good answer. I guarantee this it. Most of these questions have answers which lie within the word usuage. Personally, I envisioned a scenario where someone lodged a small pair of scissors down someones throat then removed it; but it doesn't fit the answer of a typical riddle. southsider2k5
I sent in the waterbed answer, and it was wrong FWIW. I'll let you all know when I find out what the real answer is.
Flash Tizzle
Interesting. Another possibility: someone cuts gas line passing through room, individual dies of carbon monoxide poisoning
Steve9347
you gys are way off. obviously the scissors had peanut butter on them, but the victim, who was allergic to peanut butter, actually licked the peanut butter completely off, and as his/her esophogial wall began to close, the scissors were dropped and the victim flung backward on the bed and died. DUH

DUH Let's be a little realistic here..... The scissors were obviously tainted with some sort of biological/chemical weapon. I'm guessing sarin nerve gas, which killed the victim in roughly 15 minutes after attacking his/her central nervous system.
CanOfCorn
C'mon, we've all seen that Chase commercial where people are feeding their old credit cards to the re-animated scissors...the scissors were tired of being kept down by The Man and have risen up against their captors. "We will not be relegated to the junk drawer anymore!" "We're here, we're shears, get used to it!"

FlaSoxxJim
I liked both the waterbed and the gas line answere. And I love these "what happened" riddle things. I've collected a bunch of them and I can throw some of them out here and give the requisite yes/no answers if people care to play. On this one, I'll guess that the scissors was used to cut the phone line, and the victim – who suffered from some undisclosed medical condition – couldn't make a call for help and died. I like the gas line answer more than this one, but thought I'd come toss out another answer.
knightni
I searched the internet. The waterbed answer seems to be the popular answer.
NorthSideSox72
The victim was going through a stack of old newspapers, searching for a headline declaring a Cubs World Series win, for his scrap book. He died before he could find one.
farmteam
I have (a relatively easy) one for you guys: Two guys are found dead in a cabin on a mountain. There was no sign of foul play, but they didn't die of natural causes either (i.e. it was an untimely death). How'd the die? There's a very good chance I just screwed up the telling of that riddle. I haven't figured it out myself, so I don't know either. The person probably needed an air tube to assist their breathing and someone just cut it open. Along the lines of the avelanche answer. . . They were snowed in the previous winter and starved and/or froze to death. With the spring thaw, the evidence of being snowed in had vanished leaving only the bodies. ?
