greasywheels121
http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines The White Sox have exercised their 2007 contract options on left-hander Mark Buehrle, outfielder Jermaine Dye and second baseman Tadahito Iguchi and have declined the option on right-hander Dustin Hermanson. The Ginger Kid
Here's to Dustin Hermanson who gutted it out last summer and worked his ass off to try and contribute to the 2006 cause. A man who stepped up in the role of closer in '05 even when his back was barking back then.

jphat007
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 30, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) The White Sox exercise the options on Dye, Buehrle, Iguchi ≠ Dye, Buehrle, Iguchi will be back. 2 of the 3 are close to 100% on coming back (not real percentages, just saying it's pretty much definite), and the third is close to that. Gene Honda Civic
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 30, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) The White Sox exercise the options on Dye, Buehrle, Iguchi ≠ Dye, Buehrle, Iguchi will be back. nor does it mean Hermanson won't be back. It's unlikely that he won't be back, but if other teams are unwilling to take a risk on his back, the Sox will gladly swoop in to offer him a 1/year $500K incentive laden deal. It would have been insane to pick up Hermanson's option.

Balta1701
QUOTE(Ohio_Fireman @ Oct 30, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) Hi fellas! Indians fan here! lol I know I know! Just wanting to ask you guys about hermanson, is he healthy now? Im sure you guys know about all of the problems the tribe had with their BP this year. Anyhow excellant site! Welcome to the site...and we have no problem with fans from other teams who are genuinely interested in learning stuff or talking baseball. Hermanson is not healthy now. After 2005, he was faced with 2 options, rehab his back or attempt a risky surgery that could end his career. He attempted the Rehab...and when he started in Spring Training, his back went right back out. He attempted to rehab the whole year, and finally got back to the big leagues at the end of the 2006 season, but didn't have much. He'd lost a lot of velocity and his back was still hurting him. Hermanson should not even be signed by the Royals to a major league deal, not with his back. He is a reasonable risk for a team looking for a veteran reliever to fill a hole in a bullpen, but he shouldn't be counted on to either be healthy the full year or to come anywhere near where he was during 2005. That said, someone really ought to pick him up on a minor league deal, just because Hermanson always points at the sky after every save, and it's entirely possible Jesus and another offseason could hold his back together enough to make something of a difference, but that's a big if. I spend a lot of time at fans247.com there are forums for every team in the MLB NBA and NFL but there are a lot of good ppl over there. A lot of cleveland fans though! GoodAsGould
I dont think Jesus/God is going to be the reason a major league baseball player is able to pitch another season or not. And im not being an ass, Im a religous person.

Baines3
I'm not surprised about Buehrle, Dye and Iguchi coming back. With Hermanson back, no way were the Sox going to bring him back. He was a gutsy pitcher and gave it all he had.
