What to do with Pods

The talk of any team giving up anything of value for Podsednik is a joke. Every team in the majors has a minor leaguer who can do what Pods does. Podsednik has become a zero-tool player. He can't hit for average (or get on base with any frequency). He has no power. His OF defense stinks. He has no arm. And his speed/baserunning/base stealing has gone from great to merely above average.

He is a below replacement level player who is no longer particularly good at any aspect of the game. Is some team going to give up anything of value for him when the best you can say about him is that he used to be fast?

I hate it when fans come up with fantastics scenarios where we can get something good in exchange for crap.

Stupid trades happen every year .Look at Balt., they gave up a young promising reliever for Wright whos in the last year of his contract and you never know what you get with that guy .

Another one last year was Borchard to Seattle for Thorton then Seattle released him got picked up by Florida .

Then theres the Cubs who do that every year .

Point is you never know .We'll probabley hang on to Pods for trade bait for as long as we can in hopes that teams get desperate for lead-off help and over pay .

Wright was a good pickup for the O's for one reason and one reason only, Leo Mazzone. Wright had his best years under Leo, and he probably will again.

Pods could at least get a major-league ready player or two.

Thats what Im thinking .We will get a descent return for Pods .He still has some value.

I just don't think that a team with a limited payroll is going to take on a player who struggled last season, and now is due for arbitration where he's going to get some sort of raise.

A mid level salaried team will take a flier on Pods. Colorado isn't that strapped for cash. Esp when any team in the NL West can win that division.

It's amazing how so many people will give up on a guy for one bad season. Keep him around, he probably won't cost too much, and look around for a suitable plan B.

Its looking like he'll be in the area of 3m .Theres no doubt its possible he could turn things around just like any other player but after last season he looked mentally exhausted .Hes very hard on himself and its not just the lack of offesive production but his basestealing was hurt by his injuries .His defense was terrible and and his base running wasnt too good either .Sometimes it looked like he was thinking about something else (probabley doing his st.pauly girl) .Not really worth 3m .

Scott Podsednik has had 1 good half of baseball in 2 seasons with the Sox.

Time for a change.

The one thing I will say for Pods is this: He did look hurt all last season. He missed most of spring training and never seemed to get his legs under him after the surgery post-05. I can't rule out the possibility that he'll come back in 07 after a full offseason with his legs back under him and able to put up a full season of pre-injury type numbers. I just don't think the odds are particularly high. The odds of Anderson giving us a solid year are much higher, for example.

Wasn't he supposedly hurt in the 2nd half of 2005 as well?

He had a whole off-season to get healthy, and like you said, he saw very little time in ST, and "looked hurt" all season.

So why should a team trying to win it all in 2007 count on a guy that hasnt been at full health since July of 2005?

I just have never really been a fan of Podsednik, and the "Podsednik Adventure" needs to come to an end.

You make a good point about 05 .I remember at one point he was on pace to steal almost 80 bags and I believe he was having hamstring probs.

Podsednik is barely major-league ready. If he gets TWO MLB ready players, and they aren't Timo and Neifi Perez, KW should be crowned.

Damn, Wite, that was wrong. You didn't have to diss Scotty like that.

He had surgery in the off season remember. This is why he came into ST less than 100%.

Well, as far as '05 goes, he was very good in all but one month (August), and he was clearly hurting, as he ended up on the DL for a few weeks. So we can atleast give him that much. '06? Yes. He was very bad outside of the month of May.

I bet if he goes back to the national league he will have a good season next year.....................

Ive been saying the same thing. Podsednik going back to the weakling National League will easily add 40 points to his average ........... I love Beck72's trade scenario ........
