Rex Kickass
On the GOP side we have: McCain - Yes. Romney - Probably. Giuliani, Santorum, Allen - Probably Not. On the Dem side we have: Biden - Yes. Richardson - Probably (rumors of a January announcement). Edwards, Clinton, Obama - Maybe. Kerry - Less likely but still possible. Warner, Feingold - Definitely Not. John Edwards raises profile by editing book about families and homes and something boring suitable for a Presidential candidate. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061112/ap_on_...ks_john_edwards Joe Biden says he's running. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2006/11/12/s...fo_n_33913.html Bill Richardson says he's running, maybe. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2006/11/12/n...ch_n_33928.html

And with McCain jumping in - officially - so early, it might suck a lot of support away from a Frist run.

Rex Kickass
I don't think that matters - because he was able to help deliver his seat to Corker - and distanced himself from the horse race in general at this point.

Rex Kickass
Unexpected. He doesn't have much in the way of organization that you would expect from someone seriously exploring a run for the Presidency according to the CW though. NorthSideSox72
Not an official announcement, but more of an update on various candidates, including John Kerry showing us again why he lost in 2004. I really, really hope the Dems can convince him to stay home.
kapkomet
I wish we could have an election without a Bush, Clinton, Kerry or anyone else that has ran for the last 12-16 years. McCain included.
Rex Kickass
The good news is that its likely that only two of those four names will be any kind of factor in the next election - even on the primary level.

I think I'd move him from "probably not" to "maybe" or even "probably". And now he has filed with the FEC - I'd say he is highly likely at this point. Seperately, here is a cool little article - a list of all the potential candidates and their Iraq war stances. NorthSideSox72
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 29, 2006 -> 10:18 AM) Frist is OUT. So for the GOP now (with Frist and Warner out), your top tier is McCain, Giuliani and Romney. Plus Brownback has announced. Who do you GOP folks like from that group? Rex Kickass
No real big surprise here. As exiting Senate Majority leader and as exiting Senator from TN, his party's standard bearer squeaked by in a race that should have been a walk and his party lost six seats when a year ago, they weren't expected to lose more than one or two. Balta1701
Wesley Clark sure sounds like a man who's going to be in. Wesley Clark said Tuesday he wants to avoid waiting too late to make a decision on whether to run for president — a mistake he made in his failed 2004 bid. "I think it was clear that I got in too late last time," the retired general and former NATO commander told The Associated Press in an interview. Mitt Romney has picked a building for his campaign headquarters.
Balta1701
Tom Daschle will not run. Evan Bayh will form an exploratory committee to start raising funds, and will announce his final decision (=yes) in January. Michael Bloomberg is also seriously considering a run as an independent. John Kerry has significantly delayed making a decision about running in 2008, in no small part because of the fallout from his botched joke.
