Pujols was quite clearly the best player in the NL, and I think you can make a case for Beltran even being better than Howard. Beltran is quite obviously a much better baserunner, and he plays elite defense in CF, where Howard can't even play a good 1B. He honestly should be DHing. Yikes... As bad as the Cardinals were, and they were indeed bad, they're the Pirates without Albert. If not for that injury earlier in the year, no telling what his overall numbers would've been.
