whitesoxin'
Have any of you actually seen Gavin pitch? People need to stop acting like they know everything. Almost all of us hated when Freddy pitched last year. He couldn't throw 90 mph, he had a lazy attitude, he got in trouble for smoking the reefer, and he made $10 million. KW knows more than you. All of you.
quickman
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) Equal I would say. I was actually pleasantly surprised with McCarthy's value over the last month. Yes and another thing, Mcarthy has not proven a damn thing. He could pitch like crap next year. He most certainly won't win 18 games. Why does everyone think Mcarthy is so great. He has not proven anything. he had a few good starts two years ago. Rex Grossman had a few good starts this year. so what. Gio will be the replacement for cotts in the pen. Is he better than cotts? NO. So how are we better? we are not. Gavin floyd, what a joke. Dam8610
QUOTE(PhilliesBuff @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) Imagine if McCarthy came to the majors and laid a total egg, went to the minors and laid an egg again. Thats what Floyd felt like to us. Um, that pretty much happened. Then, they found the flaw, fixed his mechanics, and he got back to dominating. If they can do the same with Gavin Floyd... kwolf68
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 11:47 PM) Here's my ideal move: Fields and Floyd for Baldelli, Sox re-sign Crede. I could go for this one. And if Anderson really matures into the player we think he can be, Baldelli could move to LF, Gio becomes a superstar, Fields strikes out too much, Floyd meltsdown in TB, Crede signs for life and plays his entire career in Chicago, and Scott Boras gets key to the city. JDsDirtySox
a few days ago it was being reported that KW was talking contract extensions with either Freddy or Mark... this leads me to believe that (if it was Freddy) KW didn't like the way the conversation went. To me it means KW has other things on the stove, and did this move to acquire more minor league pitching and clear salary for another move (at least that's what I hope!) Capn12
The SQL gremlins are back on the board tonight!! Double posts a plenty!! After thinking about it for a bit, I'm not too bothered by the move. I know that watching Freddy Garcia pitch in 2006 resulted in some of the most agonizing baseball viewing that you can go through....a seemingly indifferent attitude from a supposed stud pitcher, never knowing what he was going to give you.....I'll gladly take that $10 mill off the ledger, and spend it on better options.
