fathom
Well, thanks for the memories Freddy. I only hope your 88 mph is still in style next year.

fathom
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:31 AM) Man how the f*** is this all we get, EVERYONE NEEDS PITCHING DAMNIT Cause this offseason is a f***ing disaster. If KW doesn't have another move in mind, he deserves to be heavily criticized.
fathom
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:32 AM) Come on, this can't be all there is to it. This should be a wake up call to some of the ridiculous trades that have been suggested on here.
sircaffey
Gio and Floyd for Freddy. Damn it.
RockRaines
he Phillies and White Sox have pulled off a deal: Freddy Garcia to Philly for Gio Gonzalez and Gavin Floyd.
Milkman delivers
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) Well you haters got what you wanted. In my opinion it was a mistake to trade Freddy over Garland maybe even Vazquez because his trade value wasn't as high as their's because he only has one year left. What the f*** are you talking about?
RockRaines
I think the market wasnt there or something, cause this deal is bulls*** IMO. There better be someone else involved.
103 mph screwball
What is he going to do with that 10 million?
fathom
The good news is that Tampa won't trade Crawford this offseason.

EvilJester99
This deal baffels the hell out of me....there better be another move that makes A LOT more sense than this BS move....

There better be someone else involved. There isn't...it's a 2 for 1 trade.
WHarris1
This is just one deal we couldn't afford to f*** up, no matter which starter we dealt we needed a great return. f*** me.
bpib
Wow, can't believe this trade happened. Well this helps the Phillies rotation
RockRaines
He is obviously either signing someone else, or dealing another pitcher somewhere nad using that cash to pay for their inflated salary. This deal looks like BS on the surface
Buehrle>Wood
So earlier KW talked about a potential Wednesday deal that would be "full circle and come back to us". He means Gio?
fathom
Quick scouting report on Floyd: On a good day, Floyd has a 94 mph fastball and a hard-breaking, 12-to-6 curveball. On a bad day, he tightens up and loses velocity on his fastball and bite on his curveball
daa84
a few things.....this saves us 10 million, and floyd and gio become our #1 and #2 pitching prospects, but i think we coulda more...like a major league ready reliever....but to me this trade reeks of more trades to come....williams acquiring young pitching to trade for other parts
Soxpranos
Maybe they know something we don't. Like Freddy has lost more stuff , did hear he hasn't worked out at all this off season.
G&T
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:34 PM) I think the market wasnt there or something, cause this deal is bulls*** IMO. There better be someone else involved. Nobody was willing to trade top pitching prospects. They're too valuable.
DBAHO
So it's basically Gio being substituted for Rowand. I don't really see how this makes a lot of sense UNLESS, these 2 are then flipped to the D-Rays for say Carl Crawford or Rocco Baldelli. It's nice to have Gio back in the organization though for the moment because I rate him highly.
South Side Fireworks Man
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) This should be a wake up call to some of the ridiculous trades that have been suggested on here. Yep. Everyone thought having a surplus of SP gave Kenny great leverage. But think about it, with the cost (salary wise) of starting pitching so high, who is going to give up good young cheap talent for a pitcher who they can't re-sign after one season? santo=dorf
So is Gio the new Gary Majewski?
fathom
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:35 AM) This is just one deal we couldn't afford to f*** up, no matter which starter we dealt we needed a great return. f*** me. Please wake me up when one thing positive happens this offseason. The only bright spot I can see is that jphat and I can't argue anymore about Garcia intentionally throwing a high curve.
