How did Aimee mann not make the cut?!?

Boo!!

Back in the day, the Chrissie Hynde did it for me. I also likes me some Shonen Knife when I'm in the mood for Japanese pop-punk-bubblegum.

Cherish the Ladies is one of my favorite Irish traditional groups.

because, Dr Love, "any one else got some to add to the list?"

Aimee Mann is great in her own right, but not on my top 10 list.

When we're done they girls are going to "do battle"... we should list a top song by each group and pit them against one another, like final four deal.

In that case, should we start mentioning some of the OBVIOUS female singers?

Etta James, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin...

Of course we have to add

Madonna - ??

Blondie - Call Me

The Pretenders - Brass In Pocket

Madonna's a tough one to pick a song for because she's invented herself so many times over the years.

For Chrissie and the Pretenders – off the first album, I'd rather see Stop Your Sobbing selected as the competition song over Brass In Pocket. I'd prefer several off of Learning to Crawl as well - Chain Gang, City Was Gone, or Middle ofr the Road maybe? Even though it was the breakthrough hit for them, Brass In Pocket always left me cold compared to other Pretenders tracks.

For Blondie, Call Me, Heart of Glass or Rapture can do I guess.

I was never the biggest fan, but Pat Benetar obviously needs to be in the mix. Heartbreaker or Hit Me with Your Best Shot are the big charters I liked. Some of the other hits (eg, Hell is For Children) always grated on me.

What about Missing Persons?? Is Dale Bozzio going to make the cut, and what song? Words? Walking in LA?

Rapture is a terrible song.

HELL you say!

'Cause the man from Mars stopped eatin' cars and eatin' bars and now he only eats guitars. GET UP!

Maybe it's just the keen social relevence of the song that scares you? :D
