elrockinMT
As with all trades you have to wait to see what develops as far as success or failure of the move. However, I like this one from first look.
GreatScott82
I wonder if KW is done with the pen?!? With Jenks, Thorton, Macdougal, Sisco, Aardsma and Floyd being there, I wonder if has something else up his sleave? I think Floyd really should spend 1 more season down in triple-A fixing up his mechanics, so that leaves one more spot open. Possibly Haegar, but i would like one more veteran down there. chisox2334
another move will be made today but it didnt say whether was through trade or free agency but it will be a small to public but a plus internally. You can find this on confrence call on whitesox.com site.
Kyyle23
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 16, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) Where's he going to play? DH-Sweeney 1B-Shealy OF's: Gathright, Dejesus, Sanders, Brown, and Mark Teahen. Isnt Teahen a 3B or 1B(when Sweeney isnt playing 1B)? I cannot recall him playing OF last year

Maybe we are going to be acquiring a righty stick that can play CF (I know we have Terrero but I want options).
Baines3
I am going to miss Ross Gload coming off the bench but he'll get more playing time with the Royals. We do need bullpen help so hopefully Sisco will workout for us. Good Luck Ross, except when you play the White Sox!
ChiSox9
Could this small move Kenny spoke about on the conference call possibly be Sandy obtaining a position with the ballclub on a coaching level?
Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 16, 2006 -> 11:22 AM) One that I must say I'm not a big fan of. Could just be because I love Gload's game so much and think he was a perfect PH off the bench late in games. Unfortunately we already ahve two with Mack and Cintron. It's also too bad that he really doesnt' have a position except first and we are all filled up there. I really expect him to have some big base hits against us this year. On the other hand, hopefully Sisco is another Thornton. He has been some kinda awful the last two years. He was very good in 2005.
Greg The Bull Luzinski
I could take trading Freddy. but this pisses me off to a high degree. I hope Ross finally gets a chance to play in KC.

I cannot recall him playing OF last year Gordon's believed to be ready, so it's expected they'll try Teahen in the of. There were also some trade rumors, iirc. Gregory Pratt
Good bye, Ross Gload. I already miss him. Sisco should be in AAA starting.
Kalapse
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Dec 16, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) Gordon's believed to be ready, so it's expected they'll try Teahen in the of. There were also some trade rumors, iirc. Yep, with Gordon likely taking over at 3B, Shealy at 1B and Sweeney at DH the only place left for Teahan is LF or being dealt. Chisoxfn
It seems to me that it would be a lot wiser to move Sweeney whose always hurt than even thinking about getting rid of Teahen. I think they will finally suck it up and move Sweeney to the Angels for a far less package than they would have got a year or two ago. Basically put I think the Royals should be happy if they can just get another team to take on Sweeney's contract.

DBAHO
Love the trade, KW's best deal of the off-season so far IMHO. And I wouldn't use Sisco as a reliever. Have him start the year off at Charlotte as a starter, and let Boone Logan or a FA pickup be used as the lefty reliever out of the pen. Because if Sisco can get his stuff back and succeed as a starter down at Charlotte, it gives us another potential young SP to put into the rotation. But Kenny, keep going after that young pitching. And a guy like Rogowski or Terrero can easily replace Gload on the bench, or Mackowiak simply takes Gload's AB's as the backup 1B. And go after Justin Huber, he could be had for basically nothing now, and I think he can still succeed as a major leaguer (and no it's not simply because he's an Aussie). Interesting to see this is the 2nd deal b/w the Royals and the Sox since Dayton Moore took over though, so there is some trading within the division going on here. Sucks for Gload though, going from a former World Series Winner to possibly the worst team in baseball today.

But worst case scenario, he improves a bit on his horrible 2006 and the sox can get some value for him later in the year. A young LHP who can throw some heat has a greater upside and more trade value than a 30 yr old bench guy.

Because if Sisco can get his stuff back and succeed as a starter down at Charlotte, it gives us another potential young SP to put into the rotation. I like the KW comment about checking with Sisco about him working as a SP. Shows the sox are confident about his talent. With the comments about his poor work habits, getting in the guy's head a bit and getting him motivated seems like a necessary first step. No one can get the guy to work out, to take his job seriously. That has to come from him. But having a quality organization like the sox take a chance on him has to be a bit of a boost over staying with the royals in 2007.
