sayitaintso
TIFWIW Alex Rodriguez-3B-Yankees Dec. 16 - 12:52 pm et Alex Rodriguez told Bob Costas in a nationally syndicated radio interview in September that he might retire once his current 10-year contract expires after the 2010 season. It's news now because no one heard it then, apparently. "I don’t really see myself playing past this contract," Rodriguez said in the interview three months ago. At the time, he was likely frustrated with the way his season had progressed. "I believe he was speaking honestly from the frame of mind that he was in at the time," Costas said in a telephone interview yesterday. "He was very matter of fact and there was no anger in his voice. It was a tone of resignation." Considering that A-Rod has been adamant recently that he wants to stay in New York, it seems doubtful that he feels quite the same way. There's little chance that A-Rod will call it a career at age 35. Source: New York Times
Chisoxfn
I knew I had heard that before.
Balta1701
No matter whether he says it or not, that man needs to get out of New York.
Brian
I doubt he will have enough money to retire on.
Baines3
I think he needs to get out of NY also but I have my doubts it will happen this year.
whitesoxfan101
I wouldn't blame him. He'll have over 600 homers probably, be a hall of famer, still somewhat young, and have made about 300 million dollars in his career.
Gregory Pratt
I think it be a shame for him to retire. I want him to play and take over the homerun record. Better A-Rod than Bonds, and I fully expect Bonds to take it next year. I can't necessarily blame him for retiring, but I wish he'd stick around longer than 2010. zygoat
With him staying in New york, he would be lucky to make it past next year
