My personal view from the White Sox perspective: Carlos Vazquez is a player that Kenny Williams took a flier on possibly thinking his injury problems have retarded his growth and he could in fact be a "late bloomer." While Vazquez is a tad old for his level (expect him to start in Birmingham) to be considered a high-level prospect, he is still young overall and has missed an entire season and part of another giving him less development time. While his composite strikeout numbers are not that great for AA ball, he shows to have very good command and control, limits homers beautifully and doesn’t walk many batters. While Vazquez has 3 pitches, he has never been considered a top prospect and I would project him more as a lefty-handed relief specialist/setup guy rather as a potential starter on Chicago’s Southside. However, it would not shock me to see the White Sox try him out as a starter just to make sure. If Vazquez could put himself in Chicago within the next 2 or 3 years even as a viable relief option and the other player obtained in the Cotts deal (the hard throwing Aardsma) develops as we think he may, then this deal could prove to be a big winner for the White Sox.

I would say that Carlos Vazquez does not have a huge upside, but if he can remain healthy it looks like he could be a safe bet to become part of the White Sox bullpen at some point in the future. The factors are there: He is a lefty, he throws pretty hard, he has multiple pitches, and has good control.

3-3 Game

Pitched well but he will have to work on getting to the bag a little quicker he allowed one runner to reach and should have allowed another but the 1st base ump was in a very giving mood (and he was blinded by Rogo)
