Jordan had been cheating, gambling, lying since he made it to the NBA. I still can't necessarily blame him, I moreso blame his wife for trusting him for as long she did. It's just plain stupidity on her part.

Or, just to play devil's advocate, maybe she wanted her kids to have a two-parent home during their younger years and tried to hang on for that reason.

I don't know her, so I don't know her reasons for staying then or leaving now, but sometimes one parent tries to stay for the sake of the kids until they can't take it anymore.

I agree with your "devil's" stance here Critic. IMO MJ is not a good guy, one hell of a basketball player, but the stories of his cheating are legendary. I don't think guys who cheat and get a lot of woman when they are married are "cool" if you get married and have gets, put it away, otherwise don't get married. All you do is embarass your wife and kids.

Seeing his kids and how they act I have no doubt she knew exactly what was up, and stayed for those 3 reasons and no other. 5 years ago MJ was crying his eyes out begging her to stay so he could remain in his kids lives full time. She wasn't a fool, she was a mother. But it's cute how he's the dickhead cheater yet she gets called stupid.

I agree 100%, it bugs me when people paint him out to be a saint just because he brought Chicago 6 championships. I loved watching MJ on the court, but don't think he's that great of a person off of it.

Who really does that, though? It's well-known that he's not only cheated on his wife, but had a really bad gambling problem. To the point it had been linked to his father's death (although there hasn't been a shred of proof that his gambling played a role).

Wow, I never heard that before. I never really thought about it, because the two guys that were caught were basically kids(idiot kids at that, you cant flash your world championship Bulls ring around without drawing attention to how you got it). I would tend to believe that his dad was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

 

His gambling problem doesnt necassarily make him a bad person in my eyes, just an addictive personality. Its a problem he has, but he can afford his problem.

Boers and Berstein talk a lot of s*** about guys until they're actually on their show. I remember them absolutely killing Frank Thomas when the whole thing with he and KW broke out last March. Frank went on their show a couple months later, and they practically had their tounges up his ass. Those two idiots have no credibility.

The gambling was a valid concern at the time - and the reason for his "baseball career". I don't ever recall those kids being accused of being hired by someone Jordan owed money to, the only place it was mentioned was in theory.

My mistake. I should've worded that a little better. What I meant was it wasn't until after they had killed him and gone through his things that they realized it was Jordan's dad. That alone should've eliminated any theory that his gambling had something to do with it. IIRC, it was Norm Van Lier that first hinted at it publically. There were also multiple newspaper columnists that hinted at the same thing.

 

This is from some dude named Mark Whicker. He wrote for the Orange County Register at the time.

 

"For now, we just know that there is evidence of the son's gambling problem, and there is suspicion of a son's paying problem. The father of that son has been murdered. Coincidence, anyone?"
