Al Lopez's Ghost
"The word out of Houston is the White SOx tried to get the Astros to include outfield prospect Hunter Pence in the Jon Garland deal before talks broke down... The White Sox's interest in pursuing a deal with the Mets would depend on how highly they regard Lastings Milledge, whose production has yet to match his five-tool potential. They reportedly have asked for Mike Pelfrey, but the right-hander seems untouchable... Some interesting minor-league signings you may have missed: outfielder-DH Ernie Young with the White Sox." Is this the ex-Cub, ex-Brewer Ernie Young? This is the first I'd heard that we signed him.

Chisoxfn
Eric Young is the Ex-Cub/Brewer you are thinking of. Last I knew he was on the Padres last year (for at least part of the year).
SkokieSox
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 30, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) Eric Young is the Ex-Cub/Brewer you are thinking of. Last I knew he was on the Padres last year (for at least part of the year). That's cool, more depth. Decent backup in case Gooch were ever to be injured. Kalapse
QUOTE(SEALgep @ Dec 30, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) That's cool, more depth. Decent backup in case Gooch were ever to be injured. The Sox did not sign Eric Young they signed Ernie Young. Eric is the infielder who played for the Cubs, Ernie is the 36 year old career minor leaguer who played for Charlotte last year. Balta1701
At least someone in the Chicago media is mentionning the deal I want, Milledge+Pelfrey.
SkokieSox
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 30, 2006 -> 10:30 PM) The Sox did not sign Eric Young they signed Ernie Young. Eric is the infielder who played for the Cubs, Ernie is the 36 year old career minor leaguer who played for Charlotte last year. I see, don't know anything about him. I thought it was odd Eric would have accepted a minor league deal. Thanks for the clear up.

I hope Kenny Williams didnt confuse himself by signing Ernie when he meant to sign Eric .....
GoSox05
36 is a bit past the age where you'd like to be in the majors
Punch and Judy Garland
Ernie was on the same USA team with Jeremy Reed if I'm not mistaken. They decided to not go with just young players for that team
