I hope he ends his career in a White Sox uni as a DH. spiderman Posted January 6, 2007 Share Posted January 6, 2007 Good point, should have added that Konerko will lead the league in GIDP, and will go through three or four stretches during the season where you can walk away from TV, and just assume that he's going to ground into a DP. My basis is that Paulie has been a great overall hitter for 80% of his career and I think a major regression like that could only be explained with an injury. YASNY Posted January 7, 2007 Share Posted January 7, 2007 I seriously doubt Paulie reaches 500 dingers. Therefore, I seriously doubt he'll be a serious HOF candidate. He's a slow firstbaseman. He may hit 500 home runs, but now 500 homeruns is not an automatic Hall of Famer since so many people are reaching it. I agrtee that Paulie has a squeeky clean resume, but he would, IMO, have to win an couple of MVPs or at least one coupled with the 500 home runs to have a shot. Realistically, Paulie has never been a top 5 player at his position at any time, this fact will really hurt him since he has never been elite, just uber-solid.
