TLAK
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jan 7, 2007 -> 10:17 AM) He may hit 500 home runs, but now 500 homeruns is not an automatic Hall of Famer since so many people are reaching it. I agrtee that Paulie has a squeeky clean resume, but he would, IMO, have to win an couple of MVPs or at least one coupled with the 500 home runs to have a shot. Realistically, Paulie has never been a top 5 player at his position at any time, this fact will really hurt him since he has never been elite, just uber-solid. 20 players have hit 500 HR. The only players who are not in the HOF are: Barry Bonds Ken Griffey Jr Mark McGwire Rafael Palmeiro Sammy Sosa This is Mac's first year on the ballot, the others are still playing or just recently retired. No one with eligibility has hit 500 and not made the Hall. It took Jimmie Foxx 7 ballots to get in but he eventually made it. I think any untainted player who gets 500 will make it, perhaps not in the first year but they'll get in. I don't know if the roiders will make it, but I think it will be because of the scandal, not because hitting 500 Hr has been devalued. JMO. bigruss
I dont see Konerko having enough power in his later years or the endurance to keep going for 500 hrs, that said i expect him to be a good power hitter until he is 34 or 35 years old when his body will breakdown (not that i want it to because he is such a classy guy) .301 44 HR 111RBI good-great player, not HOF material in my eyes
TheBigHurt
I'm not gonna make much of a prediction. I say if he keeps his BA over 280 at least, get's 30 HR and 100 RBIs, that's a good season. Hey, ever since WS 2005, game 2... Paulie will always be a god to me.
Balta1701
I was surprised that Paulie's HR numbers were down a little last year, because he had a great year with the bat. Very, very consistent, and I think he'll avoid any prolongued slumps and do that again, and get a little luckier with the power #'s. .314, 40 HR's, 121 RBI. RME JICO
I think Paulie will fall in between his 05 and 06 numbers, but still very solid. 38 HR 108 RBI .305/.380/.540 4th All-Star Appearance 24 GIDP
