I got a 23, basically right in between Bush and Powell. I knew a couple questions where I differed because on non economic issues I don't necessarily fall on the typical conservative republican side. However, when I vote the #1 thing I consider are economic factors and thats why I vote heavy republican.

17. Right about where I thought I'd be as well...although there were a few "Yeah, but...." questions which were hard to answer. Especially the Joint Chiefs or United Nations. Yikes. Talk about a rock and a hard place.

I used to feel the same way. But the last 6 years, the GOP (at the national level) has been nothing but fiscally irresponsible. They are now far more concerned with interfering in people's lives, than keeping government under control.

I wouldn't disagree with them being more fiscally irrisponsible than I'd like. However, they are still far superior in that category to the dem's. So for me it is the lesser of two evils at this point. Kind of like when I voted for Arnold who I actually think is pretty terrible (just better than Gray Davis) because my guy (McClintock) had on chance at winning.

21.

For fun I tried to be extremely right wing as possible, including banning porno, supporting Reagan and Robertson, and being against AIDS research and Gays, and I still got a 33. I can't even imagine how NUKE got a 37.

I did the same thing for the liberal side and got a 5

23, Question #3 made me think for a while. Who do you trust more? I really couldn't say that I trusted either union leaders or business execs, and I also really couldn't say I trusted either professional athletes or team owners. I would have to know them to decide.

Explain to me how neoliberal economics, supply-side economics, whatever the f*** it's called these days, is superior to neokeynesian economics, Rubinomics or whatever the f*** it's called these days. I'm willing to bet that your economic stance falls in line with "taxes are bad" and "the progressive tax system is unfair," rather than "the crowding out effect is a bunch of balls" and "consumption to the terms of a negative savings rate will only produce moderate, short-term economic growth, if at all."

The problem with 99% of voters is that they subscribe to the idea of taxes as the only pertinent piece of economic evidence that effects their vote. Trade deficits, economic subsidies, basically anything that effects the nation and not directly them is not important. Thus, it's asinine to say "I subscribe with blah because of their stance on economics," when both the voters and politicians have no clue what they're talking about.

Also, 12.

The most conservative score I could get was a 38 (I'm not sure what I'm missing to hit 40), and the most liberal was a 2. Maybe the endpoints aren't actually achievable.

Also, I think some issues could go either way when considering the extremes. For example, the far religious right and pornography and the stance of some far left feminists is the same (though the rationale is different).

I BS'd on a couple of the questions to assure I was in line with my hero but if I actually answered everything according to my beliefs Id probably still got north of 30.

I scored a 19 and ended up exactly where I expected... Near the middle leaning a little liberal.

All us middies between 18 and 24 should start our own political party.

;)

I actually agree with that. I have an issue with a two party system. Yuo are either one or th eother. If you side left, the right will paint you as a leftist libral... even if you arent. And once you are branded, you're stuck with it! A middle party right between the two would be great.

Totally agree. There are a lot of things that I like with one party, but not with the other and vice-versa. I would just like to see one candidate that I actually agreed with more than 60% of the time.
