Steve9347
Just heard the former Saints quarterback, "The Cajun Canon" say that, "If you don't root for the Saints, you're not American." Hey asshole, if the Saints win, its not going to make anything better in New Orleans, and I hope the Bears stomp them.

Jimbo's Drinker
I really feel for the tragedy in New Orleans, but give me an F'in break and stop playing that card. Its been a year and a half since, and im a f'in american either way. ESPN and its bias and gut wrenching perspective piss me the f off. HuskyCaucasian
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 18, 2007 -> 08:09 AM) Hey asshole, if the Saints win, its not going to make anything better in New Orleans, and I hope the Bears stomp them. Boers and Bersie have had the BEST stance on this topic and the most well thought out. Yes it might bring "civic pride" to N.O. if they win, but it will not rebuild the city. It will not bring back the "chocolate city" the mayor wants. They can say it far more equivalently than I can, but that is the jist of their comments. whitesoxfan101
The fact that Katrina could kill hundreds and hundreds of wonderful people, and forget to take a douche like this with it is pretty sad. New Orleans is a hell hole, was a hell hole before Katrina, will be a hell hole for all eternity after Katrina, the unfortunate victims still live in FEMA trailers, and will be pretty sad Sunday night after their franchise, which was a joke for 39 years, loses. This game WAS the most important Bears game in my life due to the stakes alone, but now, the stakes are even higher: shut up the morons and Katrina mongerers. I ask though, if it's true that every action has an equal and opposite reaciton, does that mean New Orleans will be re flooded when the Saints lose? Kyyle23
Hm, Jay Mariotti feels the same way. Go figure. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/mariotti/21...T-jay19.article I'm not asking him or anyone else in these parts to pull for the New Orleans Saints. I just want Bears fans to recognize the Saints as more than a football team. They are the symbol of a region that is still devastated from the irreparable wreckage of Hurricane Katrina, a team that can bring temporary joy and escape to a town but can't begin to change the sobering reality that the murder rate is staggering, half the population has fled and those who remain wonder whether they also should leave. People want New Orleans to feel good Sunday, which somehow makes the Bears the biggest bad guys out of this city since Al Capone.
Jimbo's Drinker
The Bears can really anger them and we can run out of the tunnel to the song" here i am rock you like a hurricane"
CanOfCorn
It's very easy to not root for the Saints. The Bears represent everything that is good with Chicago. Does the awfulness that was Katrina make a 40 year old team trump a team with more history and tradition? I guess it does. I really hope Papa Bear is rolling over in his grave and talking to God to make it sleet on the visitor's side of the field only. The Saints are a great story...worst-to-first is a great story no matter what. Add in Katrina and you get the emotional factor. But keep discounting the Bears, people...and they will bite you on the ass.... PLAY ANGRY!!!

The hockey season was getting under way so of course I played it over and over (not thinking about anything but hockey when playing it). Of course a few people that were driving near me gave me funny looks - guess it didn't help I was wearing a Hurricanes hat at the same time. By the time it dawned on me why I was getting funny looks, I couldn't stop laughing.

juddling
Hebert was just on the Score with Mulligan and Handly and i thought for sure the first question would be about this quote. Those two wusses didn't even bring it up. I wasn't very fond of them before but to completely ignore this was wrong.

I was going to question why in the world you'd wear a Hurricanes hat (I'm a Blackhawks fan, so why I would do that, I have NO idea.) Then I saw "Hartford? hammerhead johnson
I thought that Tyson Chandler was sent to save New Orleans.
