It is a requirement as a Sox fan to have a media persecution complex. We must always believe we get no respect and the media is always out to get us.

Perhaps you are right. I really thought the author of How Tribune Manufactured Buehrle Controversy really took the time to break down things and produce facts. His story is not a crazed rant. He has a well thought out argument specifically quoting the offending articles. If every Sox fan is required to have a media persecution complex, what originated that complex? Media persecution?

.........what came first, The Chicken or The Egg. What is basically happening, if the SOX DONT say anything, the Media will come to their own conclusions. Its a vicious circle, the SOX are going to have to get used to trying to give out info when they can. If Kenny clams up, the Media will come up with a story no matter what, I say its best to talk with them ......

Both sides try to use the media to their advantage and get their own spin.

Players will always say "I want to be here, etc." or "It is up to the team to make me a fair offer"....

while clubs can only really pay up or try to tarnish someone's image, etc.

I think KW has done a good job in the past of making fair offers and letting players know early on what his goals are etc., did anyone think we would renew garland and the count last year, I thought KW did a great job early on of letting both of these guys know he wasn't afraid to cut them loose if they were going to be unreasonable...he is trying the same tactic this year...

only problem is that IMHO Buerhle and Crede both want to maximize $$s and won't give any form of discount.

:cheers The guy that makes minimum wage claims he'd be loyal to anyone that would pay him $25K. The guy making $25K claims he'd be forever loyal to anyone paying him $100K, the guy making $100K claims he'd be forever loyal for $500K. They all are telling the truth, at that moment. :D

Plus, the drive to be #1 includes salary time. Every player I have ever known, knew what the salaries were around him and at his position. There are players that would be happy as hell to be making $300,000 instead of $3,000,000 if the highest salary was $275,000. As Steff points out, that's human nature. If you have better "stats" at work, you'd be pissed to know the guy in the Boise office makes more than you, and the first chance you have to renegotiate you'll be in asking to top that guy's salary.
