DonkeyKongerko
I for one am not gonna get on Jerry for this. I saw O'Leary's career numbers against Colon. Guess what, Marte retired O'Leary too. Unfortunately Marte has been struggling something awful these past couple weeks. I was at that Giants game when Colon gave up the runs in the 9th. Marte came in afterwards and gave up the grand slam to Aurilia. Something is wrong with Marte and Colon has been victimized twice as a result. The umping was terrible I will say but it is no excuse for Marte to go in and not even be able to pitch an inning.

In the game thread somone did mention about Marte being overrated.... No, the person (You) said his ERA was deceiving. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't -- but that doesn't change the fact that we turned to him to get us through the 8th to get to Koch, and he failed. Plain and simple. greg775
You've got to have a feel for the game. Our bats got one run which was all they were gonna get. Colon was our only hope, shutting out the lifeless Cubs. Marte did suck, no question, but Koch woulda blown it in ninth anyway. I guess we should be happy with 2 of 3. I guess we should wait til offseason and find a great choice to replace JM. If we fire him now, we'll keep the interim next year.

Jim Fainter
How many consecutive bad games has Dam Marte had? Rick White is no longer the worst pitcher on the team.
clujer420
How many consecutive bad games has Dam Marte had? Rick White is no longer the worst pitcher on the team. LOL, that's being a bit overdramatic. I'd say that's about 3 or 4 bad games in a row for him. It seems that way, at least. Just checked...his last game was actually a good one. 1 2/3 vs. Boston, allowing nothing. But before that, he had given up 3 ER in his last 3 1/3 IP. Of course, the GS he allowed is in there, which only shows up as 1 ER, but in reality is much more costly.

No way. Colon had 3 hits against when taken out. Additionally, the sCrUBS aren't the goddamn Giants. The Giants actually have some talent. Explain to me how taking out a pitcher who was DOMINATING the opposition at the time is a good move before the inning even starts? Just because Colon got rocked against SF he'll get rocked against the sCrUBS? I don't f***ing buy it. JM and Marte f***ed up. Thanks alot guys :fyou
RedPinStripes
A 1-0 game is nothing to tinker with imo. They couldnt hit s*** off him all day . As soon as Manuel came out, I told Ian and told him this game was f***ed.

Rick White is no longer the worst pitcher on the team. i dont know..... rick white is about as effective as a T-ball stand He got tagged by San Francisco, struggled a bit against SAN DIEGO, and had 1 good outing out of 2 against Boston. The thing is his last outing showed promise when he pitched 1 2/3 scoreless IP against Boston. You gotta feel for Don Cooper or the Bullpen Coach here. I mean just when you get one guy going, another guy starts struggling in a big way. Rick White has finally turned something around here and now our HANDS DOWN BEST RELIEVER is struggling. I hope we can fix him soon.
greg775
You gotta let him stay in. Let him win or lose it on a day we were only gonna get one run. Bulls*** managing unless BC wanted out.

Out of Colon's last 13 batters that he faced, only 2 got on base, and both were erased on DP's. He should have been left in (unless he's injured, which is a possibility I guess). That said, Marte choked.

CUBS SHOULD THANK YOUR NO BUSINESS MANAGING A MLB TEAM ASS FOR THE WIN! STUPID DICKHEAD! :fyou Tell us how you really feel! I agree though....that was a very poor move on Manuel's part. There is NO reason at all why Colon is brought out in that situation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but O'Leary led off the inning, right? The very WORST that can happen is a tie game after the at bat. Manuel decides to be a dumbass and bring in Marte....and the thing he should have done AS SOON as he got O'Leary out was gone to the bullpen and either brought in Gordon, White, Glover, or Koch. It is called managing by the book, and Manuel has apparently forgotten how to do it. My day would be going MUCH better had there actually been a real play-by-play guy. I think I'm dumber then I was before watching that game, thank you very much Chimpy.

Yesterday he sat there stoned when he should have been making moves and today he over manages. when your starter is out there kicking ass and your offense isnt sparking, you let the pitcher play his game. and switch up the offense. Must not make any sense though because JM has a job in mlb and i dont and he dont agree.

FIRE JM NOW IF YOU EVEN WANT TO REMOTELY CONSIDER THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING LESS THAN 2 GAMES BACK AFTER THE SERIES WITH MINNESOTA!!!!! With JM, we'll be lucky to win 1 out of 3. Not saying I agreed with the move, but I figured Marte would get through it just fine. The only time I ever really get worried with Damaso is when he comes in with runners already on base. Those are normally his poor games. Today, the opposite was true.
keaddy
I'm goin' with the rabble on this one. There was absolutely no reason to take Colon out.I don't care what O'Leary has done to Colon in the past-he's only one hitter. Manuel needs to be fired immediately.Actually,he needed to be fired 2 yrs ago-but what's a couple more wasted seasons................ Plus-when did we start letting Marte pitch to mostly right handed lineups?!We don't stand a chance with Manuel........... K-Y
