soxwon
When was your first sox game? Remember any details? Also do you keep score?
WhiteSoxfan1986
I wanna say my first Sox game was against one of the good Jays teams in 92 or 93. I think the Jays ended up winning.
joemg311
I'm sure I went to one when I was younger, but the first memory I have going to a game was in 98. Charlie O'Brien was cetching, and he gave a ball to my dad's friends daughter that was with us.
DrunkBomber
I dont remember who it was against or even if they won, it was in 93 or 94 and Thomas hit a grand slam.

sayitaintso
I think my first sox game was in 95 or 96 vs. the Athletics. I don't remember anything about the game except that i took a picture with my uncle.
GreatScott82
1986 at Old Comiskey..my father took me to the game, i was 4 years old, i remember it because Harold Baines hit a game winning homerun and i remember the scoreboard exploding for the first time and thought it was the coolest thing! I remember my dad picking me up and down over those yellow railings they had down on the first level. What a memory! Happyness is being a Sox fan! Baines3
My first White Sox game was in 1965 against the Yankees in Yankee Stadium. I remember Tom Tresh make a terrific catch robbing Danny Cater of a home run. I don't remember who was pitching, the Sox lost that game. That is about all I can recall from it. ptatc
First one I remember was in 1975 when the White Sox played the Brewers and I got to meet Hank Aaron. The Sox won the game but I don't remember the score. Edited February 2, 2007 by ptatc
striker
My first Sox game was the season of the strike, I believe '94. I lived in Seattle at the time and the Sox came out for a four game series. My dad bought me two tickets to each game. The highlights of the series: 1. Sox swept 2. McDowell out dueled Johnson for a 2-1 victory. Sox won on an Officer Karkovice solo homer. 3. Buhner threw a foul ball up from the on deck circle into the crowd. I reached in front of a group of kids (who didn't have tickets for the seats they were in) to snag the ball. I later gave the ball to one of the kids because he gave me a pouty look the rest of the game. That ball meant nothing to me. 4. The best highlight was the last game where I had tickets right behind the Mariners dugout. Marty the Moose was dancing on the dugout between innings. He came over to me, wearing a Sox hat, took my hat off me, turned it inside out and put it back on my head. The crowd was all cheering and it was on the big screen. Steve9347
First Sox game was in '94, I was 11... my dad got some LF seats behind the bullpen. I remember it was very hot, and the White Sox lost in extra innings to the Tribe... that's about all I can remember. Oh, and I drank a bunch of Cokes out of commemorative cups, and had like 6 cups by the end of the game... it'd be kind of cool to see who was on those cups. While I was on vacation. Both pitchers were on that game.
Balance
I'm pretty sure it was in 1980 or 81 at the old park. I was only about 5 or 6, so I don't recall all of the specifics. I seem to remember sitting in the upper deck and watching the Blue Jays beat the Sox.

klaus kinski
The first one that I remember was a Boys Benefit Cubs/Sox game in the Summer-maybe 1955-when we had just obtained Herb Score from Injuns-to see if he could regain form after his beaning. He pitched fairly well, there were 55,000 people there-with folding chairs on the warning tracks for add'l seats.
southsider2k5
The first game I remember was during the summer of the Southside Hitmen in 77. I know I went to games before that, but I couldn't tell you anything about them.
Scwible
If i remember correctly, mine was a year or two after the new stadium had opened. My neighbor got tickets through work in the 300 level. Don't remember who they were playing or anything, I was just happy to finally go to a Sox game.
elrockinMT
My first game on TV was 1959, but in person was 1977 in Los Angeles when the Sox took on the California Angels in a 4 game series. I saw Bobbie Bonds of the Angels hit a homer. I remember a young Sox pitcher, who was traded the next year for Bonds, strike out 13 or 14 Angels. I think his last name was Frost, but I can't be sure on that. The last game of that series was a Sunday and I can remember the Sox were trailing in the 9th with a runner or two on and Richie Zisk was pinch hitting. He flied out to the wall in Right center for the final out. I also remember Jim Essian and Jorge Orta playing for the Sox. I took in all 4 games. maggliopipe
My first one was at old Comiskey in '87. I remember Jerry Reuss was pitching and it may have been the home opener, though I'm not sure. I know they were giving out the magnetic schedules for the season and he was probably the #1 guy in the rotation that year.... no recollection of who won or lost but my uncle and one of his buddies brought me. He brought me to a ton of games as a kid, including the original Turn Back the Clock game.
Pants Rowland
Old Comiskey, Disco Night 1979 (no, not the infamous Disco demolition against Detroit). I think it was against the Mariners and the Sox lost. I was too young to pay attention to details of the game. I remember seeing a man walk across the infield during the pregame festivities. Someone asked my dad who that was and he said in his strong Greek accent "that drunken ass Harry Carey." I also remember the firewoks going off for a Sox HR. One of my earliest childhood memories. I went to Baseball Almanac to see if I could locate the exact game. It appears it was a 7-2 Tuesday night loss, when the Sox did in fact get a solo home run in the second inning. Funny thing to note is that Mario Mendoza started at SS for the M's and went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI.

Sox played the Brewers and the Sox Neil Allen gave up 6 runs in the first inning and got nobody out. He was released the next day. I saw Kenny Williams play in that game and he hit a homer. I also saw Harold Baines pinch hit for Carlton Fisk and he tapped out to the mound on a check swing. Sox lost 7-4.
greg775
Old Comiskey. Remember my dad had season tickets. I was probably 7 or 8. It was a doubleheader and I cried when he wanted to leave late in Game Two. It actually was a night doubleheader. Like most kids back then in 70s will never forget walking up the stairs on the lower level and seeing that big scoreboard in center field and the grass and the sound of bat hitting ball at batting practice. Sensory overload. That old park was amazing. Better than Wrigley.
Drew
I've been told my first game was sometime in the summer of the South Side Hitmen, 1977. I was mere months old, but was told I awoke for a Harold Baines walk-off home run. When we moved to KC for dad's job in '82, going to Royals games--many of my earliest cognizant memories of going to games--I remember even as a kindergartener thinking the lack of history at Royals Stadium and the brand-new franchise that called it home were seriously unsettling. But to this day, one of my most favorite players is George Brett. When we moved back a year later, the Winning Ugly Sox were the perfect homecoming. I keep score. This past year, I actually designed and had a season-long scorebook, and designed a leather cover. I gave two away as Christmas gifts to my dad and my brother, and kept the third.
