zenryan
I use to go to a lot of spring training games when they were in sarasota. but I have only been to a Sox game in Chicago 2 times. Back on Aug 21 and 22 against the A's in 1990. It was special b/c the 22 was my ninth birthday and at the time my uncle was a relief pitcher on the A's. So he was able to get like 10 tickets for me and my family for both of those games and he got us a few rooms in the same hotel the A's were staying in. WilliamTell
The first Sox game I went to was Saturday September 23rd, 2000. The lost to the Twins in the Metrodome in extra innings, but Cleveland lost to Kansas City which clinched the division for the Sox. It was the best loss ever, haha. Rex Kickass
1987. Sox beat Rangers 5-3 at Old Comiskey. My dad wouldn't let me have a score card so I had to use the Brown Bag from the lunch my mom packed. Neighbor with season tickets gave us the tickets, first base line in the "Gold Box." Pete Incaviglia hit a home run that was a mile high. Dad made us leave middle of the 9th inning. There were 9000 people there. And that's what I did on my summer vacation. BigEdWalsh
In August 1962. The Sox and Early Wynn lost to Jim Kaat and the Twins 2-0. I think Wynn was going for career win #299 that night, if memory serves me correct. I remember Lenny Green the Twins CF making an outstanding diving catch. I also remember the Sox outhitting the Twins something like 9-4, but lotsa DPs killed the Sox that night. I remember being in awe of the ballpark, having only seen it previously on B&W TV. witesoxfan
The first time I ever recall hearing about the White Sox or even seeing their logo was at my grandparent's house. My grandpa was a huge sports fan, but just casually watched baseball. The game was on, and the White Sox were playing Baltimore - I believe in Baltimore - and they jumped out to a 3-0 lead. There was a rain delay at some point in the game, I played with toys for about 3 hours, and I came back and saw that the Orioles ended up winning like 13-3. The first game I actually ever remember watching a significant portion of was the Lyle Mouton walk-off homer game against Texas in 1996. The Rangers were off to a 7-0 or 8-0 start that year, and they tied the game up and then took the lead, only to give up the tying run in the 10th, and then the 3-run, walk-off homer to Lyle in the 11th. As I recall, he hit the s*** out of the ball.
Heartattack19
My first game was in 1990, it was the promotion where if you made the honor roll or had perfect attendance, you recieved sox tickets! It was against the Cleveland Indians, Bud Black started for the Indians. Sox Lost, i think Scooter Fletcher hit a double. It was a good time, even though the sox did not win a game until my third trip to the old Comiskey( friggin Sosa hit a home run in that game!) Allsox
QUOTE(soxwon @ Feb 1, 2007 -> 11:50 PM) When was your first sox game? Remember any details? Also do you keep score? Sept 7th, 1986, Right OF stands at Old Comiskey Park. Dad took my little brother, sister and me to our first baseball game on the day the Bears opened the season so I know that was a sacrifice for him. But for us, we've been hooked on Sox baseball ever since. Sox won 4 -3 over Tor with Harold driving in the go-ahead run I think.
